Website Needed to Link Photos
January 8, 2002

Posted on 01/08/2002 8:53:32 AM PST by TruthShallSetYouFree

I am looking for a website which will enable me to upload photos and other graphics that I could then link to when I post on FreeRepublic. I used to be able to do it for free from a few places, but they have either gone under or imposed a fee. Capitalism sucks. (If you're from West Palm Beach, that's a joke.)

I know there are Web Hosting services available from about ten bucks a month on up, but I don't require anything that elaborate. I just want a spot to put up a few pictures a month. I don't want to pay for a bunch of services I don't need, like my own website or ten different e-mail accounts. Any thoughts, fellow Freepers.

www.no-ip.com

I have not used this service, but a co-worker uses it. He claims that it is free, but is a bit slow because it allows you to use your local drive to store pics. I think that you need a cable modem or DSL.

I don't want to sound like an idiot (too late) But I was wondering how do you post a picture on FR? I know when you type it in you have to link it to where you have the picture, but does the picture need to be named something so it can be posted?

If you're paying more than $23/month for dial-up access and they don't give you free webspace, get AOL-- you get 35MB.

Your photo first has to placed on a hosting computer. Your own will not do it. Go to post #5 ...get an account at Big Village ..... and upload your photos there.

When this is done you can link to them and make them appear here at FR.

A related question. Are the photos that we get from news services, like Yahoo, etc., copyrighted? (But they must be.) In other words, what's the deal about reposting someone else's photos here or anywhere else?

I've checked out some of those sites where you can upload photos, but they do have restrictions on others' copyrights. Thoughts on this, anyone?
