Single Adult “Freepers” – New Year’s …What About Next Christmas?
grumpster "can you feel the love?"-dumpster | 29December2001 | grumpster "Party-boy"-dumpster

Last week I posted a opinion piece about “Single and Alone for the Holidays” (No I’m not going to post a link! That article has run it’s course.)

You would be surprised at the number of responses I received via “Freep Mail” (There were millions!…well dozens.) Anywho, the thought occurred and was suggested by “Texana RED” (thanks for giving me permission to use your name) that next year we should have a Freeper Christmas Party for those of us who are single adults.

The original thread (No, I’m still not going to post a link.) was about how non-responsive churches are to the needs of single adults, especially during the “Holidays.”

What do you think? …About the idea of a Freeper Christmas party, I mean.

Think about what you did this last week… do you want to go through the same next year? Tell us! Maybe we all can make it happen!(The party...not the link to the other thread...which I still refuse to post!)

What are your plans for this New Years?

LMAO, talk about a dysfunctional Christmas! Can you imagine about 20 very opinionated FReepers in a room together celebrating this very religious holiday? You'd have atheists, Protestants, Catholics and Jews. My bet is that after about 30 minutes there would be a WWF style free-for-all. LOL

Grumpster, being a kind hearted (yet ruthless) sucker for the "wailing and gnashing of teeth" type will acquiesce and post the link...as soon as he gets back to HTML bootcamp and figures out how! (Although grumpster suspects "Happygal" is well on her way to be her own party...and doesn't really care! :) )

Pro-drug warriors, anti-drug warriors, Freepers who think South Park is funny, freepers who think South Park is evil, Fundamentalists, Libertarians, Fundamentalist libertarians, anti-immigration, pro-immigration etc...

What a great party it would be!!!!!!

Just checked out your Profile. In America, Hurling is something you do when you see Hillary on T.V.

Hmmmmm...methinks I'm going to have to educate you Yanks about the finest field sport in the world. (And NO! As much as we drink, projectile vomitting has yet to catch on as a sport over here! *LOL*)

You know, I've been active for a few months and my impression is that most Freepers (other than the few obvious agitators that we all run into) are very comfortable debating opinions contrary with their own if presented in rational and respectful ways. After all, our underlying beliefs converge or we wouldn't bother being here, despite particular disagreements we may have on isolated issues. For me, the greatest attraction of conservatism has always been that rational thought is more powerful than dogmatic ideological belief.

Properly organized, such an event as suggested could be a modern Congress. A place where new ideas might bubble up. Potentially a whole lot of fun, besides. Who knows? Probably worth investigating though, eh?
