It turns out the the comic ctrip is sharper than the guy drawing it up. McGruder really comes off as a real nutcase in this article who just hates freedom. If he wants to leave the US and go join the Taliban, the US will be a better nation.
So does this mean that McGruder will use his strip to slam Clinton for rejecting Sudan's offer to extradite Bin Laden? I guess he'll get around to doing that just as soon as he's done making fun of Bush's use of the term "evildoers." Something tells me that I should not hold my breath.
Dear Canada,
Merry Christmas!!!
Love,
The United States
And you probably thought we wouldn't get you anything ;)
LOL tooooo funny! Kid's sharp!
Aaron McGruder didn't need to say this, it comes across loud and clear in his interview and in the strip. He sounds like a Black Panther - "Take one part intelligence and one part bigotry mix it in a big bowl and mix with pure ego." - as Bogey78O says above.
I live in VT, so I don't have a lot of black friends - we're the whitest state in the union - but from those I have, Christian folk, all, I have learned that the 'Black Community' is pretty harsh on any of their number thinking or (God forbid) voting against the Liberal Democrat groupthink. The pressure to follow the beliefs of the group is so strong that even sincere, life-affirming Christians will vote for a pro-abort Gore, or put up with the sexual sins of a Clinton for the sake of unity in the group.
Aaron McGruder may want to think he is controversial and a loner, way out there in front of the pack as he is with his cartoon and his income, but the truth is that he is not applying the God-given gift and intelligence he has to truly examining America's political scene. He is a Black Sheeple.
May God wake him up.
I read the wretched strip every day, and every time I marvel at his ignorance, his knee-jerk reactionary hatred and his arrogance.
"... I was broke up until a couple of years ago. Now that I have money... ...I have to find time to really see the rest of the world. ...When I visited Canada, I didn't have health care here. I go there, I have health insurance."
Two points:
1) If he has money now, he can afford health insurance in the US. Or, is he merely a cheapskate?
2) Visitors to Canada do not participate in our health insurance scheme. Only permanent residents, and citizens. If he thinks that he's going to get some kind of "free" health insurance by merely visiting, he's a deluded fool (which he is, in any case). The health insurance plans up here are provincially run, not federal. B.C. and Ontario, the two provinces he'd most likely be attracted to, are now the most conservative provinces and don't take kindly to either health insurance fraud, nor attempts by wealthy persons to take advantage of the existing system. He'll either wait in the queue like everyone else, or... PAY UP!
Hey, now - he's gonna be your grifter in a few years ;)
I guy the little guy who draws funny pictures is looking for his 15 minutes of fame.
1) B, cheapskate
2) B, pay up - he strikes me as the instant gratification type :)
Isn't there a third choice there for health coverage? I know someone who's got coverage in BC by virtue of being there on a 1-year renewable work visa. Has anyone examined the Canadian cartooning industry to see if that job can be filled by a qualified Canadian before you guys do something silly like let him in?
Not that you're not more than welcome to have him. ;)
Yeah, and that's why Bush is the President of the United States. He is the most powerful man in the world, and this jacka$$ is a bitter little cartoonist. So, who's the moron?
Like my father always used to say... "Krig-zich nisht mit kein nahr". "Never argue with a fool".
Our erstwhile 'Toonist, is a deluded, dull-witted follower of cultural fashion. A sheep, a lemming. Lacking real imagination and innovative thought, he resorts to myths, shibboleths, falsehoods and lies wrapped up in pop-art. He's a cheap pamphleteer hawking his racist trash to equally dim-witted masses. His ideas have the currency of German Reichsmarks, circa 1946. They're inflated by his own hubris.
He's a mere idiot.
