December 5, 2001 -- Osama bin Laden may be on the verge of scoring a radiological "dirty bomb," the Washington Post reported yesterday. That development needs to be taken very seriously indeed.

A dirty bomb is not - repeat, not - a nuke. But it could be the next worse thing.

The bomb was made originally to contend with tyrannical industrial powers Japan and Germany.

Today we are face with a network of nihilist islamists.

The very essence of civilization is now under attack, not just to declare who will be running it, but if it will even exist at all.

Think about the unthinkable -- fast!

But then realize the vast enormity of dispersed agents of islamic nihilism cannot be handled by one bomb.

Bush's goofy minded and unilateral agreement to reduce the nuclear arms stockpile is wrong.

And now look how Bush was fooled by Putin during the Crawford visit if he thought the Russians would not use the Arabs against us: Russia announces cut in oil exports of 150,000 barrels a day -- conforming to the Mexico-OPEC wishes for higher prices from an alliance of both non-OPEC and OPEC producers -- AGAINST THE U.S. IN A TIME OF WAR! (Just the opposite of the alliance the Bush-X41 had in OPEC's support fot the Gulf War wherein the Arabs put in their own $60 Billion.) Come January the Russian alliance with the Arabs will hit the gaspump in your neighborhood and the recognition will slowly sink in that perhaps this is much bigger than World War III could even be imagined to be.

Bush is being caught short!

What do you think about the theory that Bush needs higher gasoline prices to get the senate (lower case intentional) to go along with opening up American territory for oil drilling?

Smart like a fox? ...or just wishful thinking?

That would only be smart like a fox if the prices were to then drop after ANWR was opened up. We'll see. The war and the U.S. economy needs the fuel. Any agreements made in Crawford look like they are being dumped by the also smart like a fox Russians.

(I had been thinking that Bush might have made the unilateral pledge on N-weapons at the time of the Putin visit knowing full well he could renege on that when the Russians pull their stunts on oil.)

So far a tough game of poker.

Sure, it will contaminate a small area pretty badly, and scare the **** out of a lot of people, but the conventional explosive simply cannot spread the rad-waste broadly enough to cause major loss of life.

You are correct. However, the psychological effect is likely to be an order of magnitude more shocking than 9/11.

Well, if it does, we can thank media fear-mongering. I mean, the very title of the article ("Think Hiroshima") is grossly misleading, gross misuse of language, and pure propaganda. A "nuclear" bomb is correctly one that derives its explosive force from nuclear chain reactions--either fission or fusion. The use of "nuclear" to describe a rad-waste chemical bomb, and to connect such a weapon to Hiroshima is GROSS PROPAGANDA, and nothing else.
