Letter to President Bush
from NEA President Bob Chase

Dear Mr. President:

We Americans are a diverse and often divided family, but at this time of tragedy we stand united - one nation indivisible. We are united by our shared grief, and also by our resolve to root out and punish those who have attacked our homeland.

Nearly one in one hundred Americans is a member of the National Education Association. I want you to know that, as President and Commander in Chief, you have our wholehearted support at this time of crisis. You should also know that, in recent days, teacher unions from around the world have expressed their strong solidarity with America. Those who love freedom and democracy are rallying to America's flag and to your leadership as President in the war on terrorism.

You have our strong support - and our prayers - as you make the fateful decisions necessary for America to prevail. The 2.6 million members of the National Education Association stand with you, and we stand ready to assist you in any way we can.

May God give you wisdom and strength, Mr. President, and may God bless our great nation.

Sincerely,

Bob Chase
President

Letter to NEA Board of Directors
from NEA President Bob Chase
October 5, 2001

Dear NEA Board of Directors Member:

As President Bush so compellingly argued in his speech to Congress, the terrorists attacked America because they despise our values. We will defeat this enemy by arms and law, but also by holding fast to the core values that define us as Americans: our freedom, our liberties, our commitment to an open, tolerant, democratic society.

Of necessity, public schools will be a frontline institution in this new era. America's domestic security will depend on more than metal detectors and sky marshals. It also will depend on the values taught in America's public schools. In the months and years ahead, it is our challenge as educators to guide an entire generation of young Americans to understand the freedom and democratic ideals that are at stake in this struggle.

With this in mind, I am passing along this packet of source materials that I hope you will find useful - and inspiring. Included are America's founding documents: the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights.
There are also backgrounders on Islam and the Arab world; resource lists on school safety and helping children cope with loss; a booklet titled "The Bible & Public Schools: A First Amendment Guide;" and much more.

When you get back home to your schools and communities, I encourage you to reproduce and disseminate items in this packet that you find especially useful. If there are other ways that we at NEA headquarters can assist you in responding to the events of September 11, don't hesitate to ask.

Sincerely,

Bob Chase
NEA President

"It's FoxNewsChannel or bust fer me...but I ABSOLUTELY LOATHE WhoreAldo!! What's a good patriot to do, Teach?!"

A famous saying goes like this:

Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country

It is not just a matter of a good citizen to be a patriot alone but also that of a citizen soldier for their country.

And I am also joining in those ranks to help with this fight against terrorism. The Leftists are also terrorists against this nation! Since they do not understand the meaning of freedom but want to destroy the foundations of what this country was founded on......that is, freedom, then they don't deserve to have any rights.

One must understand that schools are used to bring in cell groups of terrorists operatives whose activities include seditious speech. The school's purpose is not to educate your children to read or write. The reality is the school is nothing more than a professional babysitting institution used also to control the child's thoughts and activities.

It is not enough to be a parent to one's child. It includes educating the child.

Just as charity starts at home.......so does reading and writing.

Jessie Lee, my six-year-old, voted for Dubyuh in her Kindergarten Mock Election last Fall. She and Jake (3) both recognize Bill Clinton as "The Bad Man" and when I disappear for a weekend to go to DeeCee or wherever, the first question they always ask is, "Did you beat up the The Bad Man, Daddy?!" It shouldn't have to be this way...and I'm damned proud to have Dubyuh in the Oval office, but he and John Ashcroft have got to escape this DreamWorld they've created for themselves wherein the Leftist Anti-Americans can be Cajoled and/or Charmed into Doing the Right Thing!! The Left is EVIL INCARNATE and must be destroyed to the point that it will never raise its Inhumanity in Polite Society ever again!!

Bush/Ashcroft have what it takes to succeed in this Righteous Endeavor...now all they have to do is pull the FReepin' trigger!! The Right'll Respond As Needed!!

See, this is where Democrats are far better parents then conservative. Their children all get to vote in the real elections...some of them more than once.

There was a time, many years ago, when the NEA was truly an organization dedicated to the professional development of teachers, a worthy goal that benefitted the children and families of America.

I have a copy of a little booklet published and distributed nationwide by the NEA back in that faraway time to be used for character development in the classrooms. It contained verses from the Bible.

That was then, and now is now.

Since the organization was highjacked by the Union/Vast Democratic Left Wing, however, its millions of dollars in compulsory union dues have been devoted to other, less worthy goals. To any who doubt that, I would urge a review of its published legislative agendas for the past 25 years.

None but the most naive can believe that a mailing from Chase at a time when Americans are on high alert for those who would subvert American liberty (including our own establishment institutions) is a hopeful sign. Politically, it may mean that other tactics will be used, but its Alinsky mode of operating by intimidation and raw coercive power is, at this point, institutionalized.

When it gives up coercively taking dues money from teachers, opposing every single measure that would improve learning performance of children, and fights for the benefit of America's children instead of job preservation of incompetents, then I will be hopeful.
