Trooper in Iraq grows grass with American soil
E-Mail | May 23, 2012

Here is a soldier in Iraq , stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt ( U.S. soil), fertilizer, and some grass seed so that he can have the sweet aroma, and feel the grass grow beneath his feet. When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and the American soil — to bring them good luck. Of all the things he could have asked his wife to send to him from home………..he asked for American soil.

I can’t even get grass to grow in my non-desert front yard.

Is the date on the picture correct? If so, this wasn’t in Iraq.

I have seen this picture several years ago. They must have copied it and come up with a new date.

Even though I have previously seen this picture, it brings a warm fuzzy feeling all over.

I have a 1 1/2’ X 3’ box of dirt that I just reseeded after someone sprayed a chemical and killed my grass that I have growing here at KAF.

I know a Marine who received a couple of Pennsy quartz stones to throw in the Helmand River so maybe the idea of Freedom would would flow through that province. The quartz is used in so many beautiful colonial buildings.

Wonder why Afghans don’t build with stone? Covered with river rocks.
