Roswell, Georgia disgraces vets by asking a local dealership to remove a patriotic truck.
Personal Emails | 07-15-07 | NaTaS

I received an interesting email this morning that really bothered me, the email stating that City of Roswell, Georgia has filled a complaint against a local auto dealership Carl Black GMC who put forth the effort to help the 173d Airborne National Memorial by building a custom 4X4 with 173d Airborne all over it..

This truck was first displayed at the “Day of Honor” concert in Atlanta, Georgia where country stars like Big & Rich, John Anderson, The Lost Trailers and of course Lynyrd Skynyrd did a benefit concert on behalf of the 173d Airborne National Memorial and help raise over $540,000 for the memorial. Since then this truck has been shipped all over the United States to help with the fund raising for the memorial and help promote the 173d Airborne both past and present (which the present brigade is on its second tour in Afghanistan) . But the trucks home will always be Carl Black’s lot in Roswell, Georgia where it is today.

Well now that I have covered a little background on the truck and why it was created and what it’s for on to the current problem. It seems that the city of Roswell, Georgia thinks that the truck is an advertisement for Carl Black GMC, which is really funny due to no where on the truck does it say Carl Black GMC on it. The city has requested that Carl Black move the truck off the lot or face having the truck towed away by the city while also facing some fines for non compliance. Carl Black has stated that he will gladly fight the city legally to keep the truck on his lot. The local VFW, American Legion along with local radio stations have been protesting the city saying “the truck is not an advertisement and it should stay here”. As of last Friday 13, July 2007 the city has stopped harassing the dealership but Carl Black really does not think that this over and have a good feeling come Monday 16, July 2007 the city will be back at the dealership to both tow the vehicle and also ticket Carl Black for lack of compliance.

The reason for me writing this article is so that the public can make a decision and not people who have their own agenda at stake. While also this does effect me personally due to my father is a 173d Airborne ( Sky Soldier ) who served in Vietnam and was in the battle for Hill 65 ( 8th of November ).

We the people should stand up and fight for what we feel is right, and to have this truck taken off display is a great injustice to every man and women who have and currently are serving this great country of ours in every branch of the military.

So if you live in Roswell, Georgia and/or would like to make a difference please send the mayor and/or the city council emails or call them and let them know how you feel on this. I personally will be sending a copy of this article to all of them in hopes that it will help. If you do live in the area please stop by and show your support for Carl Black and our US Troops both past and present this truck means a lot to everyone especially our Vietnam vets of the 173d Airborne Brigade who have over 48 of their brothers names on this truck that were killed in action both in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

On a side not this is just a couple of lines from the email I received that just about put me through the roof: “On another note in previous years Carl Black GMC has displayed American Flags along the edge of the dealership with no problem. They did that along with the truck this year and the City of Roswell informed them they had to remove the flags.” Again please show your support for this and let the city council and the mayor know what they are doing is wrong and they should cease and desist.

When I was a kid during WWII no one would have even thought of taking umbrage at a demonstration of support for our forces. Now it seems as if its the proper thing to do. Blame the schools? No history? No Civics? Only cucumber condoms. Vote ‘em all out!

That truck is a beautiful memorial to our brothers and sisters who valiantly fought and died for this country. I wish the proud men and women of the 173rd were alive today to drive that truck.

Ping for patriotism

Thank you for posting that article along with how to contact our Mayor and council members. I was outraged when I found out this story during last Saturday’s parade. I have sent a letter to Mayor Wood, hopefully he will read it. I will be sure to announce it in on air during my broadcasts as well as put an article on our website about it. People need to be aware of the erosion of our rights. You also know that the city of Roswell didn’t want Carl Black to fly little flags on the antenna’s of their cars for Flag day? Guess the ordinance patrol had no clue it was Flag day!!!! Now that’s pathetic. Anyway if you ever get a chance check us out

OK, it’s now 8-11-07. What’s the status? Has the city swallered hard and said never mind?

I live near Roswell, and decided to give them a call to see where things stood. I talked with Dan Adams,(Airborne Ranger) who is the point man on this issue. there has been so many veterans to show up and send emails and faxes to Mayor Woods office that he recanted the order to remove the truck.
This mayor is most definitely a liberal, and also told the m they cannot put up a flag pole. No American flag can be displayed over a foot square. Soooo... The dealership draped flags on every car on the lot.
Dan has promised to keep in touch with me, and I with him. I’m a Vietnam Vet, and served with the 101st Airborne. I told Dan that I have already notified the 101st Airborne Division Association and about 100 other Airborne troopers.

The 2nd Battalion of the 502nd of the 101st held a ceremony
at the Vietnam Memorial in front of Roswell City Hall in 06.
they welcomed us then, bur are apparently two faced.

So I wonder how big the flag is in front of the police and fire stations, as well as city hall, the post office, the library, etc?

Someone ought to go and measure the flags.

It’s a solid bet the Mayor and City Council of Roswell, Georgia are Democrats.
