Early Voters in WI, MI, MN, NY and PA can revote on election day
Fox news just showed a map of states where people who early vote can "revote" on or before Election Day. Louisiana is also a state where this is true.
15mm have already voted. If they are having indigestion for having voted for a potential felon and live in one of these states, there is a cure available to them.
How do you propose that our military serving overseas get their chance to vote without absentee votes?
Wow, I never heard of this, and I certainly disapprove of it as well, because it seems to be a ripe situation for voter fraud.
In WI, early voting is handled like an absentee vote. The voter themself seals the ballot inside a special envelope, with the voter’s name and address, and the envelope must be signed in front of a witness. Then, on election day itself, those envelopes are opened and put through the machine that scans them, in the same polling place that the voter would have used if they had voted in person.
If a voter can get to their polling BEFORE their envelope is opened and scanned, then they can change it.
Once the envelope is opened and the ballot scanned, their name is marked as having voted, and they cannot change it.

Someone recently told me that Wisconsin and Minnesota allow early voters to change their mind before or by election day. Even though they swore it was true, I’m still wondering if it is. I guess I will have to google it as I forgot about it until I read this.
They havery it just that the election officials don’t know about it. See SEIU, AFSME, AFL/CIO, BLM, etc.
I don’t know how it’s done elsewhere but here.......you check into a table where they have a list of names. They find your name on the list and next to it is a number. They use that number to issue you a ballot or card to vote on the machine. I think the machine reads your number.
If they wanted they could track everything back but it would sure be a pain.
I think it’s a forgone conclusion that they’d be able to vote the way they’ve always voted.

This mutli-week voting nonsense and completely brain-dead approach to registration is a large part of what’s killing this nation.
Absentee ballots are certainly fine, but only to be used under extreme circumstance and , again, submitted only at a post office with voter id and insured delivery.

It’s not all States, just certain States. About 10 or more States, but I don’t know which specific ones. Try googling.

Well those were 2 of the states he mentioned in his post, which is why I tried them specifically, after having tried the question without any state name at all. I happen to live in Louisiana myself. I would have thought I would at least found it mentioned on Faux News site. I certainly thought I would get a hit on my state site. It's not that I doubt it, it is just that I can't confirm it. I still think it can give rise to voter fraud. Besides, how would you know which candidate actually received your vote? I actually do not like the early voting concept at all. Nor do I like last minute registration to vote. This is how our system has gotten corrupted.

Obama and Clinton have opened up the flood gates. Those new voters will be loyal Democrats. Most do not even understand English.
I read yesterday that they hold the absentee ballots in an envelope with that person’s ID, so I suppose that envelope could be pulled, destroyed, and a new ballot issued. I don’t like the idea, one way or the other, but especially that my absentee ballot is ID’d so that whomever counts them knows who I voted for.
I would add one thing to your list of voting requirements:
A TAX receipt from the IRS showing you properly filed and PAID your taxes the previous April.

I REALLY like your re-register every 6 years. That would put a real wrench in the dead vote machine.
Fox news just (12:30 pm Sat) read a letter from Louisiana govt saying that there is NO reivoting in the state. It stated that if you vote by absentee in Louisiana, that IS your only vote. You can’t show up on election day and ‘re-vote’ in person.
I just had to throw out the remembrance of the military. My daughter and son-in-law were some of those military votes that may or may not have been counted in Florida 2000.
I have always just voted in person on election day. I seem to remember back in the dark ages gubmint class that Texas only allowed the military and people who presented a verified valid excuses to vote absentee. But that was 1960’s and 70’s rules. I believe those over 65 were added sometime in the 70’s or 80’s. I have no clue when all this nonsense of anyone voting for weeks in advance started even tho I was actually working at polls through those years. Guess I just focused on the “real” voting.

I should have been clear up front :-). Who knows what things people are thinking in this day and age.
I think a lot of this easy voting registration garbage went into effect around the time of the stupid, sickening “motor voter” act signed into law by Billy Jeff Clinton. It should have been called the “Democratic Party Presidential Election Preservation Act of 1993”.
While liberals would scream how repeal of that stupid act is “RACIST!”, it’s anything but racist. Anyone can vote under “my” rules :-). Just walk to your nearest post office, register to vote, get your photo taken for your voter ID courtesy of the taxpayers, and wait for your card to arrive! Do that once every six years and you’re good to go!
I like the idea of having to present tax filings to get your voter ID ... my only problem is what if I had a year where I wrote off all of my taxes due to various events ... know what I mean? I suppose that’s VERY unlikely in the case of personal income tax, but many sole proprietors would face that problem (they typically file taxes related to their business as personal income / expenses).
Only downside is that this could be a form of national ID ... however, I get sick thinking that my vote is canceled out by some angry, filthy cheating hippie voting 10 times longing for the days where Communism was on the threshold of being spread across the country from sea to shining sea. Since they can’t cope with living in a free society, they have to make everyone equally miserable :-).
I like your notion on the taxes but it could be a problem like you said for those of us who are self employed. My husband and I file seperately every year. We have a VERY good accountant and set our books up seperately when we married as we were both self contractors. After an injury I have not been able to work some years and had no income. We still file separately, we married in late middle age, have separate investments and separate some beneficiary-type things out for children from previous marriages. We still pay less to the IRS this way. I filed in the years with no income but have no tax to pay. We both also use extensions to pay at the last moment in the fall. I have not filed for disability tho definitely eligible because we feel as a married couple and my husband is able to provide for us both that we aren’t comfortable being part of the social security problem. I am not yet retirement age.
I don’t know that there aren’t a lot of people who’ve lived hard working lives but no longer paying income tax who would be denied the vote unless that system were carefully crafted.
I would trust most freepers to figure out a fair system, not sure i trust a legislator though.
It is a good idea IMO... just need some fine tuning to get it right.
I actually have some respect for a system of property owners being voters. I know there are problems with that notion as well. But a person who has to deal with property ownership is much more likely to see that tax money is looked after frugally as well. A plan like that is similar to yours with income tax, either gives the payee more say in where his hard-earned dollars go.
