Washington software developers start conservative social media website ["Foundersweb"]

As the 2012 election begins to heat up, conservatives will be looking to find alternate ways of getting information, since much of the so-called mainstream press tilts heavily to the left.

One way conservatives can connect is through the use of "microblogging".

Microblogging is defined as a web service that lets subscribers broadcast short messages to other subscribers of the service. These short posts can be made public on a Web site and/or distributed to a private group.

One example of a microblog is Twitter, currently in use by thousands worldwide. Barack Obama used Twitter heavily during the 2008 election, and other politicians are using the service as well - Sarah Palin being one of the most well-known politicians using Twitter.

Walt Minnick used Twitter to announce his concession to Raul Labrador in November.

But two conservatives in Issaquah, WA are using the technology to help contribute in their own way. They have started their own microblogging site specifically for conservatives.

Foundersweb has two primary goals:

1.To provide timely & relevant information (news articles, blog posts, tweets) for conservatives. 2.To provide a social platform where conservatives and Tea Party supporters can connect & organize. Some might say such a service is unnecessary, but the developers of Foundersweb disagree. On their "About Us" page, they explain:

Foundersweb is a microblogging network for Conservatives. Think of it as Twitter but without any of the Liberal hate or spam. Microblogging has become a popular method of communication on the Internet thanks to Twitter. Through our platform, Conservatives exchange short messages and thereby share interesting content. In addition, Foundersweb texts, attaches links, videos, pictures and other files to your messages.

Foundersweb is fairly new, but one of the developers explained the idea is to build smart systems to help spread relevant information to conservatives:

"This first phase of our project showcases a Twitter-like app on PC & Mobile, a Hand-picked Conservative Links module and a Conservative News Aggregator.

We believe that micro-blogging could be a good way for Conservatives and especially Tea Party supporters to connect."

The reason Foundersweb exists is also found on the web site:

Progressivism is not an American tradition. It was imported from Europe at the beginning of the 20th century, from pure socialist stock, and imposed itself on our politics and culture thanks to Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Lyndon B. Johnson and Jimmy Carter. In order to do that, progressivism had to bypass the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence

Although new, the site is beginning to see interest from conservatives nationwide, and could help conservative candidates get their message directly to the public bypassing a media that is often hostile to the conservative point of view.

Have you ever contacted them about it?”

Yes, I and many others. Their answer is that they are struggling anyway and advertising keeps them afloat. I say when things get that bad, it’s time to let the ship sink.

I see the demise of any kind of decorum or respect in our whole society. I’m old enough to remember something much better that used to dictate actions in everyday life. The speed at which our society had deteriorated appalls me.
