Just got off the phone with a nice lady at the NRA. I told her I was cancelling and why - Reid, DISCLOSE, and the gag about Kagan.
Yes, I could write a note as was suggested by someone here, but this really speaks louder and drives the point home. I can rejoin if they change their ways.
I was told that all paid dues memberships must be cancelled in writing.
Here’s the address for anyone interested in writing:
NRA
Attn: Office of the Secretary
11250 Waples Mill Road
Fairfax, VA 22030
Float it? Fine. Just be sure to flush before you leave the bathroom.
-Gun Owners of America is the one that Im looking at joining.-
thanks! that’s the one.
I don’t know wat has happened to the NRA, but they sold out to the leftists. In the long run, this is a bad thing for America.
I’m glad that Charlton Heston wasn’t alive to see this.
First, if the incumbent has supported, or at least followed the NRA line, the NRA will endorse him over a challenger. I don’t know what the NRA’s rating for Reid is, but that this likely how he rates the endorsement. The NRA is about guns, not conservatism.
Second, expecting a Democrat majority in the Senate is reasonable. No matter how well the election goes, the Senate is likely to remain in Democrat hands. If Reid goes, “Chuckie” will mostly likely replace him.
I dropped my NRA membership after the organizations disgraceful sell-out of the American people on the Disclose Act. Certainly no regrets, either by the NRA OR me!!!
I hope the NRA hasn’t spent or committed the unremitted balance on my EP life membership, mine and I imagine lots of others’.
You won't have one without the other.
Lock-n-load!
I asked an NRA/ILA staffer about their failure to stand against the DISCLOSE act and support of the Reid reelection campaign: (paraphrased response) We’re a nonpartisan 2nd Amendment support organization. When I pointed out that their failure to stand against the assault on the 1st Amendment with consideration of how the 2nd and Bill of Rights are necessarily mutually supportive and failure to defend the others and in particular the 1st would lead to further encroachment on the 2nd - the answer was repeated.
I now believe the NRA is a traitorous shill for the left.

Apparently the socialists have infiltrated the NRA too.
Of course there’s always Gun Owners of America.
(I doubt it will take much encouragement, as they feel much the same as I.)
There are no mitigating circumstances that will allow a Harry Reid to receive an NRA endorsement. Chris Cox and Wayne Lapierre can obfuscate and dance all they want.
The only thing they are accomplishing with this is to drive prospective members away and to lose and alienate loyal members.
“Charlton Heston is rolling in his grave.”
He campaigned for and was instrumental in getting the 1968 Gun Control Act passed. He was no hero of firearms. He never once campaigned to remove it. He was a B class actor that continued his act to the day he died.
I never thought the day would come when Free Republic would support Charles Schumer as the House Majority Leader.
Oh, you mean they aren’t? Then this must be the twenty- ninth thread for bashing the only gun group between us and the anti’s.
Congratulations, FR.
