Ron Paul Money Bomb Exploding ($1 million @ 9:30am)
USAdaily ^ | 11/5/07 | Larry Fester

Posted on 11/05/2007 7:26:30 AM PST by traviskicks

Ron Paul's presidential campaign is getting cash infusion today from grass roots activists on the internet. The activists plan to get 100,000 people to donate $100 each, boosting the campaign by 10 million dollars in a day.

Whether the goal of 10 million dollars in a day is achieved remains to be seen. The campaign as of 10 PM Sunday night had risen just under 2.8 million for the quarter.

As of Monday, 9:30 AM Eastern time, Paul’s campaign has risen over a million dollars bringing the total to over 4.1 million for the quarter.

Paul’s campaign raised over 5 million in the third quarter and had over 5 million cash on hand at the start of this quarter.

The one day fund raising push is already a success and it hasn’t shown any signs of losing momentum. Paul’s campaign had nothing to do with the grass roots effort which makes it even more impressive.

Ron Paul voted against the Iraq war and says he will bring the troops home immediately. Paul seeks to eliminate federal income taxes and wants to reform the monetary system by authorizing competing currencies backed by gold and silver.

Paul also voted against the Patriot Act and has been an outspoken defender of the Bill of Rights.

I never dreamed it would blow up this big, this is simply amazing. I bet he gets to 7 million before the day is over. I believe he started the day at 2.7 for the quarter and he will end having just above or below 7 million. Hes already eclipsed last quarters fund raising total and well on his way to surpassing the goal this quarter.

We just passed the all-time one-day fundraising record that Romney set last spring when he got $3.1 million in pledges in one day. No one knows how long it took those checks to arrive or if he got all the money that was pledged.

RP is getting this money in the bank in real time.

Currently: $3.2M today, $6.3M for 4Q

Boy from the first page of this thread I was almost wondering why I had even came back here to see what people were going to say about this amazing day. Can't say I'm really surprised to see it in RLC Liberty Caucus instead of breaking news though ;)
As someone else said earlier:

“On the non chance that Paul became president both parties would refuse to deal with him rendering him isolated and ineffective in the white house for his single term.”

Yea. Ronald Reagan had that problem and took his case directly to the people. This will work for Paul, as well.

****With no line item veto he could not stop government spending on welfare and other entitlements. He could reduce the size of Executive Branch Agencies to reduce the size of government. But that does not stop Congressional spending.

Can you imagine this? No, not just ineffective ... down right disastrous.****

You forget that all most all politicians are “politicians.” They change with the wind. A win by Ron Paul will tell them that the public wants drastic changes. The house of reps will be particularly vulnerable, as the legions of Ron Paul followers will go all out in the mid terms. Bringing the troops home from Germany, Japan, Korea, Turkey, etc. will be hugely popular. Maybe not so much from Iraq and Afghanistan, but it will probably turn out well there too. Instead of spends $100’s of billions overseas, that money will be spent in the USA creating many good jobs. The National Guard troops will be home with their families. The prospect of sound money will stop the run on the dollar. Inflation will drop to zero. Funding the federal government with a non protectionist tariff will bring many more good jobs back to the US. Ending foreign aid is very popular with the average person struggling to pay his bills.

****This is really Dr. No’s Retirement Account. It boggles the mind that so many self-anointed “bright” people can be this gullible.****

It seems to me that it is the Ron Paul haters, on this forum, that are reduced to using unintelligent arguments against him.

Ron Paul has refused the “very generous” congressional pension. So to make this kind of charge against him is rather dumb.

None.

Amazing. We had that 7pm peak of $225K p/hr and have leveled to $200K p/hr.

If this holds steady, that's another $600,000 to add to Q4 total of $6.47M currently for a Q4 total of $7.2M. I don't think we'll quite make 4M today though, probably just $3.8M or $3.9M unless the Left Coast comes in big later in the evening.

[Note: the fundraising day ends at midnight Eastern time so there less than 3 hours left.]

No signs they're letting up the pace.

I’m an active-duty Marine Corps Sgt with two tours in Iraq under my belt. I’ve only registered to vote once before but never felt strongly enough about any candidate to vote. I just donated $25 to Ron Paul and plan to register as a Republican to vote for him in the California Primaries. I would have donated more if I could afford it right now, next paycheck I will do more. If I could volunteer for his campaign I would but Im not sure what the rules are for active duty service members. I don’t agree with the man on every issue, but he definitely has character. I am sick and tired of our politics being issues-driven. I want our politics to be about the expression of competing ideas and together arriving at a concensus. Today’s politics are divisive, if you disagree with someone’s politics all they do is label and assault you. We see it here against Ron Paul and his supporters. If you can’t defend your position and articulate why you stand against someone then maybe your position isn’t as strong as you think it is. Some of you will accuse me of being a liberal and, to be honest, on some issues you would be right. But if the geberal election came down to Hillary vs Paul I would vote Paul in a heartbeat. I don’t care that he and I disagree on issues. The problems with America go deeper than any single issue. I think alot of people are allowing themselves to be manipulated by the establishment and they dont even realize it. Politicians know that all they have to do is hit a couple of talking points and people will vote for them. Thats not the kind of America I want for my children. To be honest with you, the state of politics in America scares me a whole lot more than terrorists. Terrorists can and do threaten our lives, but our own politians threaten our freedoms more than Osama ever will.

I’m willing to sacrifice a couple items on my checklist if it means I can get a President with character.

To me I think one day we will have to answer to our childred. If the politics they face is the same we face today than we will be the ones to blame.

****Imagine how Romney would do if all his supporters held back and pushed everything on one day.. heck, Paul is almost up to his October goal with this big push. Where is he against everyone else totaled again?****

Romney was dealing with fat cats who could donate the $2,300 at one time, plus $2,300 for other members of their family. Today’s donations are coming from people who can only afford a couple hundred dollars, for the most part. That is 20,000 people, most of whom have never donated to a political campaign before.

Plus you have to remember that $1 M to Ron Paul is like $3-4 M to any other candidate. Most campaigns give out bumper stickers, yard signs, etc. Ron Paul supporters are “buying” yard signs, bumper stickers, etc. They are spending their own money to put up bill boards. They are donating their time giving out campaign literature at super markets, shopping malls, and other similar places.

****Whereas many Scots and Irish claim that Guy Fawkes was “the only man who ever entered the Houses of Parliament with honourable intentions” (chuckle).***

I think a lot of us think that most of our politicians are dishonest.

I fought hard for the Republican revolution in 94, but we got the same old, same old.

Ron Paul might not be able to get his ideas through congress, but he will fight them all the way. No blinking like Newt did with Clinton.

You know, it will be interesting to see what the British papers say tomorrow. This is kind of a major and unique Guy Fawkes Day, a rather British holiday not widely celebrated elsewhere. I’ll bet they’ll all run at least a blurb on this moneybomb. They won’t be able to resist it.

Thanks for posting so positively here. Many others on this forum also disagree with Ron Paul on a few issues but still find his record and politics compelling.

Beyond that, Ron Paul is a successful private physician with most of his personal investments in Gold.

In case you hadn't noticed, under the Bush Presidency the international value of the US Dollar has collapsed to amongst the lowest levels in history:

The commensurate increase in the Dollar price of Gold (now at nearly $800 per ounce) has left Dr. Ron Paul as one of the wealthier Congressmen in the House of Representatives.

Perversely, the only way that Dr. Paul would even need some ill-gotten "Retirement Fund" at this time is if he WINS... and his anti-inflationary policies, once enacted, restore the value of the Dollar and reduce the Dollar Price of his Gold investments.

But I think that Dr. Paul would be okay with that.

****Actually, Paul didn’t choose the day. He has a campaign and a zillion or so others have a similar campaign. They chose the day, not him nor anyone in his official campaign staff. About the only thing they have in common is the desire to elect him President. That may not happen but in the meantime we’re being treated to a magnificent display of grass-roots activism. It would be a shame to waste all this energy.****

I agree with EEE that we probably should have done it on 11/11 to show support for our troops. However, this day seem to have caught the immagination of a lot of supporters.

It has been a great day for Ron Paul, as he will raise over $4 M dollars in one day. It will be hard to follow it up with another money bomb on 11/11.

If I could volunteer for his campaign I would but Im not sure what the rules are for active duty service members.

Please speak to one of our very first signed-up Members of the Great Ron Paul Ping List on Free Republic, active-duty serviceman "Gamecock".

I don't know the exact rules, but I believe that he will tell you that active-duty servicemen are not supposed to volunteer for primary campaigns (other than retaining their individual right to donate their own money and vote their own conscience).

The 11/11 money bomb will at least be an opportunity for some who missed out on The Fifth of November. I know I had to remind some people here just what Day it was so they could get their donations in (lol!).

The 11/11 money bomb will be an also-ran, but at least those who missed "V day" can still make it to the party on "Vets day".
