Ron Paul Money Bomb Exploding ($1 million @ 9:30am)
USAdaily ^ | 11/5/07 | Larry Fester

Posted on 11/05/2007 7:26:30 AM PST by traviskicks

Ron Paul's presidential campaign is getting cash infusion today from grass roots activists on the internet. The activists plan to get 100,000 people to donate $100 each, boosting the campaign by 10 million dollars in a day.

Whether the goal of 10 million dollars in a day is achieved remains to be seen. The campaign as of 10 PM Sunday night had risen just under 2.8 million for the quarter.

As of Monday, 9:30 AM Eastern time, Paul’s campaign has risen over a million dollars bringing the total to over 4.1 million for the quarter.

Paul’s campaign raised over 5 million in the third quarter and had over 5 million cash on hand at the start of this quarter.

The one day fund raising push is already a success and it hasn’t shown any signs of losing momentum. Paul’s campaign had nothing to do with the grass roots effort which makes it even more impressive.

Ron Paul voted against the Iraq war and says he will bring the troops home immediately. Paul seeks to eliminate federal income taxes and wants to reform the monetary system by authorizing competing currencies backed by gold and silver.

Paul also voted against the Patriot Act and has been an outspoken defender of the Bill of Rights.

Oh, one more thing, you do know that Guy Fawkes day in the UK is celebrated by burning him in effigy?

Whereas many Scots and Irish claim that Guy Fawkes was "the only man who ever entered the Houses of Parliament with honourable intentions" (chuckle).

Much like the "American Revolution" (or was it "The Presbyterian Rebellion", as the event was called in England?), I suppose it depends on your perspective.

Wow. Closing on $2.5 Million. We're on track for about $4 Million here, folks.

Does anyone know what the record is for the largest amount of money ever raised by ANY Presidential Candidate in a single day?

'Cause, um, it may be this Ron Paul guy, within the next 9 hours.

I have always preferred the book to the movie. More so with V.

All you had to say was "NO." You have no spine. You have no pride.

Amen. Enough of us standing up and saying "No", with not giving up that One Inch, and we could change things back to the way the were supposed to be...

Remember when we Paul supporters were overjoyed because we managed to raise the last million of the 3Q total of $5.08M in just a week? That was less than 5 weeks ago.

We've already raised $2.4M today and we're at $5.5M for 4Q. Since the day is only 2/3 done, it's conceivable we could reach the halfway mark for the $12M target for 4Q fundraising today. I don't think we'll get that much but I'm already shocked at this response.

It's astonishing, really.

Thanks for the congrats, ellery. Your comment is refreshing given the usual trollfest these threads turn into. Me, I try to be positive toward all GOP candidates not named Giuliani. Admittedly, I've gotten a little suspicious of Huck's fiscal record and some remarks he's made but I could vote for him or McCain if they managed to snag the nomination.

Wolfie Blitzer is ready to cover this now in his next segment. "Ron Paul's...new fundraising surprise...it's a huge surprise". LOL.

Over $5.5M raised by 3:30CST. Sounds like a lot of people voting with their wallet.

The 5.5 is cash on hand. He has raised about 2.4 million as of today.

Kerry got in over $5M in a day in 2004 but that was at the Dim convention for the general election. Doesn't count.

Romney had $3.1M pledged during his biggest day this year. No one knows if they actually coughed it all up though. And that wasn't online either. It's said that it was Romney's business associates.

Wolfie covering the GOP candidates now, I think...

Don't quote me but I think the most ever raised online in a primary before was $2.3M. We've already beat that.

I admit I’m not always positive about all our candidates (although I’ve been trying not to go too much on the offensive except with your favorite authoritarian and mine, Rudolph Giuliani). That said, I don’t understand the vehement hostility toward Dr. Paul. Disagreements over foreign policy don’t negate Dr. Paul’s outstanding record on small government and the Constitution.

Plus, I think it’s good for the party and the country long-term to have some good solid competition coming from the grassroots. And this certainly qualifies, to say the least — when you think about how much money Paul is raising per second, it’s pretty amazing!

I would, but seriously... siding with Kookcinich in a moronic anti-war stance?

I just can't stomach it. War is necessary sometimes. Fight it the wrong way, but dammit FIGHT. There are no other options when your declared enemy has you in his sights.

Yeah. As I've said before, whatever my other problems with the Movie (which I'd still give a 7, maybe 7.5 -- but not the Book's "perfect 10")....

....all would have been (mostly) forgiven the Wachowski brothers if they simply would have transcribed the "Good Evening, London" Speech directly from the Book.

Oh, well.

I did like their "V" soliloquy though. Not that I think it should have been used where they did.

There was a sense of violence they removed from the movie that made it seem too "super hero"-ish. They removed a lot of the underlying philosophy, although... for the MTV generation, it might have flopped had they left it in.

They should have left in at least ONE of V's dissertations on what "real" anarchy means. It was the point of the whole movie after all... Not just "fight against tyranny".

Who else is bringing excited young people to the GOP? All the while, he's talking about Social Security, the Fed, the gold standard, Austrian economics. Who could have expected it? Now some of those young people are very liberal antiwar types. But most really like Ron Paul's core record and insistence on constitutionalism.

I was laughing looking at a thread on one of the RP forums. They were all commenting on how much RP raised while they ate a sandwich and such. When they started recording how much he could raise while they went to the restroom for a #2, I gave up, laughing. You know, those kids are a lot of fun.

The "Good Evening, London" Speech was a deal-breaker, for me.

Although, as you say, I would have been pleased had they left the Old Bailey Speech in. But I could live without it.

Wolfie couldn't believe it. He thought it had to be pledges, not actual donations.

RP doesn't take pledges. He takes checks and credit cards.

It was a puny sad little Wolfie report.

Was about to jump for joy earlier in the morning on the official website, till I remembered to look at the daily graph web page.

It’s a positive day for RP. I know others will try to tear it apart, but who cares.
