One of the best books I have read on Genesis is “The Genesis Record” by Henry Morris.

Someone in some church i attended ‘before the Turn’, I heard say that ‘before Moses and the Pentateuch’, there was no evidence of any written history of man.’

What kind of history does Genesis offer? The fundamentalist kind of history that insists that every detail, every jot and tittle are literally true? Or the Catholic kind that sees Genesis as morally and figuratively true but not literally true in every respect?
For example, in describing Creation as taking six days, does Genesis literally mean six days? Or does it mean to convey the sense of God working in an orderly and logical progression, stating that in a way that could be understood long before modern science? Since Genesis is not meant as a science text, the latter explanation seems the most credible.

Yes it is. One day we’ll understand more when Lord Jesus is our King.

The further back you go the less accurate and factual history is.
