Presbyterian Pastor Says Killing Babies in Abortions is a “Blessing” and an “Act of Love”

Killing an unborn child because she’s a girl is a “moral good.” Killing an unborn boy because he has Down syndrome is “an act of love.” Killing an unborn baby just because you forgot to use birth control and don’t want to be a parent yet “is an act of grace,” “a blessing.”

That essentially is the message that a Presbyterian pastor has made it her mission to share with Christians across the United States. Of course, the Rev. Rebecca Todd Peters does not mention killing or babies in her sermons promoting abortion on demand.

According to Religion News Service, Peters gave a sermon July 9 at the Community Church of Chapel Hill in North Carolina, explaining why she believes Christians should support abortions for any reason without restriction.

“Abortion is a moral good. Abortion is an act of love. Abortion is an act of grace,” Peters told the congregation. “Abortion is a blessing.”

As she spoke, she wore a bright pink stole displaying the logo of the billion-dollar abortion chain Planned Parenthood, according to the report.

Peters is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), an Elon University professor and an abortion activist. She has given speeches and written books and columns for years about why she believes it is moral and ethical to kill unborn babies in abortions.

She told the news outlet that believes it is her duty to counter the pro-life beliefs taught by the Catholic Church and evangelical Protestants.

In the past two years, Peters has given at least 55 similar sermons and lectures, and the Spiritual Alliance of Communities for Reproductive Dignity, a pro-abortion group that she co-founded, hosts training seminars and provides a curriculum to churches that makes a Christian case for abortion, according to the report.

Years ago, Peters said she had two abortions herself. She also volunteered as an abortion clinic escort in Kentucky while working for the PCUSA denomination.

“I felt God’s presence with me as I made the decision to end two pregnancies and I felt no guilt, no shame, no sin,” she told the church July 9. “A forced pregnancy or birth is not holy.”

She said she believes abortion for any reason is morally justified, and the idea that abortion is wrong is “rooted in Christianity’s patriarchal vision of womanhood,” according to the report.

But as one congregant told the news outlet after listening to Peters’ sermon, the pastor forgot the commandment “Thou shalt not murder.”

A number of mainline Protestant denominations have abandoned this commandment and other scripture that emphasizes the value of unborn babies and God’s abhorrence at the shedding of innocent blood when it comes to life in the womb.

Last year, the PCUSA passed a resolution supporting “reproductive justice” and “abortion care,” and LifeNews has reported about similar support for abortion from the United Church of Christ and United Methodist Church.

True Christianity raises up the most vulnerable, defends the defenseless and offers compassion to the suffering. This includes babies in the womb who, throughout the Bible, are recognized as unique, valuable human beings created in God’s image.

All across the U.S., Christians are working to save unborn babies and providing support and encouragement to pregnant and parenting mothers in need. Of course, pro-lifers of other faiths and no faith are doing this, too. Through pregnancy centers, maternity homes and many other charities, Christians are practicing true love for others by providing baby supplies, housing, financial assistance, parenting classes and more to help millions of mothers and babies thrive.

They use Psalm 137:8-9 to justify that. Since it’s in the Bible then it must be okay.

Sadly, in today’s world many Muslims are better Christians than a lot of Christians are.

PCUSA…….what a surprise NOT

One very good reason why the Presbyterian (PCA) left the mainline church in the ‘70’s…..
…USA ….Apostate then, apostate now

PCA does NOT ordain women
Does NOT sanction abortion…..etc

They use Psalm 137:8-9 to justify that. Since it’s in the Bible then it must be okay.

A) That's poetic language (book of Psalms). And
B) That's in the Old Testament anyway. One thing Protestants and Catholics have agreed on since way back at the Council of Nicea is that doctrine comes from the New Testament, not the Old Testament.

That’s what you call a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” right there. Someone in the flock should have pulled out a bull whip and whipped her out the cursed building. Like JESUS did to the money changers in His Temple.
