‘The Chosen’ Director Says Jesus Transfiguration Not Important: ‘What Purpose Would it Serve our Story?’
Protestia ^ | July 14, 2023 | staff

Posted on 07/14/2023 12:38:16 PM PDT by Morgana

‘The Chosen’ Director Dallas Jenkins has responded to fans wanting him to include the transfiguration of Jesus in his hit TV show about the life of Jesus, saying he’s confused why fans would think it would be an important scene to show, particularly because it wouldn’t “serve our story.”

We’ve written about Jenkins in the past, with our posts Dallas Jenkins Says Mormons are Saved : ‘I’m Going to Die on That Hill’, as well as Dallas Jenkins Doubles Down on Controversial Mormon Comments, Straight up Lies and Dallas Jenkins Affirms Mormons are Christians in ‘Definitive, Final’ Video.’

Jenkins made these particular comments in the The Chosen Fans: Memes, BTS, Fan Art Facebook page in this post, when someone asked

To which Jenkins replied:

While Jenkins can do whatever he wants with his TV show, it’s a bit of a strange response, given the transfiguration of Jesus is considered one of the most significant and awe-inducing miracles in the entire bible. Appearing Matthew 17:1–8, Mark 9:2–8, Luke 9:28–36, as well as referenced in 2 Peter 1:16–18), CF Moule explains “The transfiguration is one of the five major milestones in the gospel narrative of the life of Jesus, the others being baptism, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension.”

One commenter wrote:

“The Transfiguration is VERY important. First of all, it reveals Jesus in FULL divinity. He did this to give Sts. Peter, James and John consolation and hope so as to strengthen them during his coming Passion and Death. Second, it also shows that Jesus IS the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets.”

Up to to his point, Jenkins has taken great pains to show Jesus in his humanity- as a teacher, a rabbi, a friend, a son. This would be one of the few times in the gospel narratives where Jesus appears in his full glory, the godhead on full display, and it’s strange he considers this ‘unimportant’ in his portrayal of Jesus’ life and ministry or to showing who he truly is.

While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. But Jesus came and touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.” When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. Matthew 17:1-8

Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

The best that can be said of this comment, it’s the result of ignorance of the truth, and I suggest none of us knows much in regard to things as yet unrevealed to man by his Creator.

If it isn’t found in scripture it just might be hearsay.

Are you getting all this just by reading what the LDS religious organization has produced?

You might have some difficulty finding your next sentence in Church history, as the Bible Dictionary contains this sentence, “Therefore the King James Version remains the principle Bible of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

And your chosen religion REJECTS the Inspired Version that GOD told JS to produce?

Verily indeed!

Jesus Christ is God’s Son, spiritually and physically.

He calls Him Father, He prays to Him.
We are to pray to Him, God the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, His Son.
God’s voice was heard at Christ’s baptism, coming from Heaven while He was in the water. The Holy Sirit also descended.

You have more of the printed word regarding the Church of Jesus Christ than many members.

This I know.

Are you one of them?

You should be able to answer the question.

No... YOU should.

It's your statement that has been questioned. I need not defend it for you.

Restoration of the Priesthood of God might be a starting point.

And why is this so?

Yes from the pagan Mormon religious tenets like their book of Mormon etc...

The things the inventor of Mormonism, Joe Smith wrote like the planet of Kolob which was the Mormon afterlife, the God hated black people, and John was still alive and lived under the North Pole...

and the immoral life he lead like the 40 wives he had all at the same time...some middle school aged...

and the things he said like the day he declared that he was greater than the LORD Jesus Christ of Christianity...

One month later God struck the heretic Joe Smith dead...

Then a guy named Brigham Young took over from Smith and was even worse...

He had 85 wives several the legal wives of other men...

and claimed that only men who had many wives would go to the Mormon afterlife where they could have 1,000 if they wanted that many and populate their own planet/afterlife...

and so on...

Well documented heresies ...

Well then; this sounds like a job for...  MORMONMAN!!!

1. Mormons believe that their Jesus is the brother of Lucifer, the devil...

2. That Mary and one of their gods had sex to make their Jesus..

3. and that their Jesus started out as a man and earned his way to being a god ...

4. They also believe that the Mormon men can become gods also...

  • We believe that He was born of a virgin, Mary, in Bethlehem of Judea in what has come to be known as the meridian of time, the central point in salvation history. From His mother, Mary, Jesus inherited mortality, the capacity to feel the frustrations and ills of this world, including the capacity to die. We believe that Jesus was fully human in that He was subject to sickness, to pain and to temptation.
  • We believe Jesus is the Son of God the Father and as such inherited powers of godhood and divinity from His Father, including immortality, the capacity to live forever. While He walked the dusty roads of Palestine as a man, He possessed the powers of a God and ministered as one having authority, including power over the elements and even power over life and death. What Latter-day Saints Believe About Jesus Christ (churchofjesuschrist.org)

It’s all found in scripture as well, but easier to find without having to quote chapter and verse.

You just have to know how to keep those God’s separated and who gets your loyalty. After all He claims to be a jealous God and I believe him. Worlds without number are his creations, so there may be many Gods as worker bees in those various worlds. That is far above our pay grade or interest and nothing about it has been revealed so in reality it shouldn’t be an issue. There is enough of an issue in this world where man and his imagination runs rampant without revelation or knowledge to support any of it.

Not true. The majority of changes are contained as footnotes in our quad.

With the death of the Apostles the Priesthood and the keys of that authority were lost.

So Jenkins. Let me open this possibility to you. Jesus took his three most trusted Apostles for this special occasion. Elijah who we know did not die he was lifted off in Firey chariot and Enoch are the only two we know of. Moses the great law giver who led a stubborn people 40 years and gave us TORAH. And he went off to a mount to die. Jenkins how do you think they got to that mount? they lived in different time periods. Nobody saw MOSES die and who buried him? we don’t know. What i put forth for you JENKINS is a time/space portal. Likely spot is a cave on Mt Sanai, Elijah hid there. Moses went into it while YHWH walked by. Time space portals do exist just because your mind can’t grasp it how else do you explain this miracle eh? LEX
