I read a biography of Ivan the Terrible (1530-1584) last year.
It was a historical blood bath. A Protestant vs Catholic religious blood bath to some extent, but primarily a personal blood bath, conceived by a violent psychopath, who was the unchallenged dictator of the Russian people for almost 40 years.
