If you don’t believe Genesis, how can you believe the rest of His Word?

If there is any single chapter of the Bible that you don't believe, how can you believe the rest?

So, if you can find even only a single chapter that seems preposterous, silly, self-contradictory, or factually incorrect...

Ironically this was our first reading TODAY! at Mass - Gen 1...
It brought to my mind again, yes-
The "let there be light" on "Day 1"...
And then the sun being created on "Day 4"...

Now this is not a Sabbath jab about having a "day" (or 3)
before The Sun is created...
But what do you believe that first light is? - in the "let there be light" ? ...What was that first light?

Could it be believed to be the Big Bang ?
Ex nihilo?

From that aspect, he says, Genesis is "truer than true." Its is the most accurate description of the human condition, of human nature - and prescription for behavior - than any other written work since.

With the exception of the "B'rer Rabbit" tales... and Aesop's Fables... maybe also O. Henry's stories... and Kipling's "Just So" stories.

But weren't there "Twelve Witnesses" of unimpeachable character who swore, and whom we know by full name, that they physically handled the golden plates?

I highly recommend Dr. Michael S. Heiser's book The Unseen Realm. Dr Heiser is a biblical scholar in Hebrew & Greek and his book took 15 years to write. It's the most interesting and important book I've read in years. Very eye opening. I just thought I was Biblically literate.

No... there aren’t. This is a popular canard.

I study and do public speaking on Biblical creation and have been doing so for 15+ years. Genesis 2 fills in the details on the creation account in Genesis 1.

Moses wrote both... why would he contradict himself?

Genesis is true and it actually matches very well to our understanding of the Big Bang. Gerald Schroeder, a physicist and devote Jewish scholar, has written several books that I found to be excellent reads related the Astrophysics as we understand it to Torah. He goes into the science of relativity and the Torah in detail showing the consistently.

You have to accept that whatever the real story is about the origin of the universe is going to sound “silly” to a degree.

But the most “silly” story of all is that we are just here by some random act.

Strong’s Concordance calls out the word “was” in their translation of Hebrew number 1961 as “became” - I look at that as perhaps the first recorded concept of an extinction event taking place. Perhaps those early orators had concepts of great cataclysmic cycles of dynamic events that altered the planet before their time. Only later would more discovery follow that yielded additional clarity to the scope of the science of earths history.

Genesis has been entirely confirmed by modern science.

Modern science is occupied by liars and frauds, when will Christian stop looking for approval from "science" ?

There is nothing intellectually solid about being told what science is and is not by liars (educators, bureaucrats, liberal Christians and the media). We accept Genesis by faith , and no person in the world does anything different when it comes to creation, whether they shout science or not
