On April 18, 1521, Martin Luther was on trial and said “Here I stand, I can do no other, God help me”. At the risk of his life, he was standing for the truth of Ephesians 2:8-9, that we are saved by God’s grace alone and not by our good works.
What would Luther say if he could see today's Protestant churches? I believe he would cry out against “grace abuse.” Grace abuse says “Because we are saved by grace alone, we can live like the devil.” Luther would say that nothing could be further from the truth. Luther would agree with the Apostle Paul who wrote in Romans chapter 6 “Shall we continue in sin that grace might increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?”
I remember years ago when I discovered that the Lutheran hospital in Portland, Ore., was performing abortions. I wrote the Lutheran bishop in Oregon saying “How can we as a Christian hospital do such a thing?” The bishop responded “We in the Lutheran Church believe in the grace of God.” There it is, grace abuse … we are saved by grace, therefore we are free to kill unborn babies.
And it's gotten worse. The head bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America recently went to the White House with other Protestant leaders to take a stand in favor of abortion rights. One ELCA Lutheran pastor even wrote this: “I love abortion, because abortion is healthcare … Any reason someone needs or wants an abortion is a good reason. You don't have to justify it to me or anyone. Free abortion. Accessible to all. On demand. Without apology. Now.” ...

Intelligent Catholics care. Let me explain why. If you were not ignorant, you would know that plenty of Protestants still respect Luther and admire him whether as a rebel and revolutionary, or for what they take as his piety and devotion, or his learning and erudition.
I have seen Protestants seriously question their beliefs after being introduced to a book written by a Protestant called The Bible and Birth Control. In the book, the reader is introduced to the Biblical teaching against birth control - especially as seen by early Protestants such as Martin Luther. Protestants are shocked to discover that every Protestant group on earth opposed birth control - for religious reasons and otherwise - from the 1500s until the 1930s, and many opposed it until the 1950s.
True knowledge always leads people to the Catholic faith - even true knowledge about Martin Luther. Don’t doubt for a second that every single Catholic saint who has ever lived would gladly share the views against abortion and birth control held by Luther with every Protestant they encountered. Why? Because they would want them to know the truth, embrace it, and go to Heaven. They were saints. They were not like you.

Ya, I attended confirmation class at st.Mathews Lutheran ( Missouri synod ) and actually paid attention.
Pastor didn’t quit appreciate me immediately after confirmation grilling him on infant baptism/salvation though.

I’m not attacking LutherISM. Lots of Lutherans are more Catholic and way more Christian than the Pope. But there’s a reason for the Catholic Church’s objection to Luther. The truth is that Luther would be cheering on the abortionists just to stick it to the Christians.
It’s just that I’m getting very tired of everyone treating Luther as if he were honest, sincere and well-intentioned, if, at worst, theologically inaccurate. The guy welcomed the Islamic destruction of the Middle East and Eastern Europe and North Africa.
He thought the deaths of 30 million were just fine, because the poor were only born to be cannon fodder and then to rot in Hell.
And yes, he preached, “Go and sin boldly,” so that when people knew they were saved anyway, they’d learn God didn’t give a crap how much evil you did, as if there were no temporal effects of horrific sin.
His entire life was a lie; his ignorance of geography proves he’d never even been to Rome.
And when the Catholic Church demonstrated that the beliefs he hated actually WERE biblical, he blasphemed the word of God and declared that 14 books, including the Revelation of John, John 1, 2 and 3, Peter 2, Hebrews and James to be fake... because he sincerely saw how those books confirmed the doctrines he accused the Catholic Church of making up.

Taken out of context as you've done, sounds bad and needs two corrections:
1. He did not preach that. He said it in a letter to Melanchthon in a specific context.
2. For any objective person, here is the entire quote:
"If you are a preacher of mercy, do not preach an imaginary but the true mercy. If the mercy is true, you must therefore bear the true, not an imaginary sin. God does not save those who are only imaginary sinners. Be a sinner, and let your sins be strong [or sin boldly], but let your trust in Christ be stronger, and rejoice in Christ who is the victor over sin, death, and the world. We will commit sins while we are here, for this life is not a place where justice resides. We, however, says Peter (2. Peter 3:13), are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth where justice will reign. It suffices that through God’s glory we have recognized the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world. No sin can separate us from Him, even if we were to kill or commit adultery thousands of times each day. Do you think such an exalted Lamb paid merely a small price with a meager sacrifice for our sins? Pray hard for you are quite a sinner."
