Two Churches in Washington State Burn in Apparent Arson Attacks

Denver Newsroom, Nov 18, 2020 / 03:40 pm MT (CNA).- Two church buildings— one Baptist, one Catholic— were damaged by fires in apparent arson attacks Sunday morning in Brewster, a town in central Washington.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church suffered some fire damage near the sanctuary from an incendiary device dropped through a broken window early Nov. 15. New Testament Baptist Church, located a block away, suffered more serious fire damage to its interior the same morning.

Investigators have deemed the fire at Sacred Heart to be intentional, police say. The police have not yet made the same pronouncement about the fire at the Baptist church, but the investigation is ongoing.

Father Pedro Bautista, Sacred Heart’s pastor, told CNA that most of Sacred Heart's parishioners are Hispanic, and that the community is "fearful" after the incident.

"This is just adding more stress to the lives of the people," he said.

Father Bautista said he noticed the fire when he came to open the church on Sunday morning. At that point, the local fire department was already battling the fire at the nearby Baptist church, which appears to have been set around 2 am, and was discovered around 5 am.

The fire damaged a chair and some carpet near the sanctuary at Sacred Heart. Father Bautista said the fire department and the police were surprised that the fire did not do more damage.

The fire at the Baptist church did not entirely destroy the building, but the damage to the interior was significant enough that the building may be beyond salvage, local media reported.

Brewster is an agricultural town of 2400 on the Columbia River in north-central Washington state. Why these were torched, given the town and location, makes no sense.

Maybe because the perps are local, or maybe because the perps figured such an isolated place with negligible law enforcement presence and few if any security cameras would be easier targets and enable them to get away undiscovered.

“..Democrats have a long history of church burning...”

Yep, but we haven’t seen anything yet.
IF PedoJoe prevails and the senate flips, within 12-18 months they’ll burn every church in the USA down using hate crime legislation as the excuse. The only churches left alone and functioning will be the govt. sanctioned ones.

A prophecy that is only off by about 3 years.

(Miami 2017)

BURNIN CHURCHES UP IN HARLEM, LIKE IN THE SPANISH CIVILWAR. THE FLAMES WERE EVERYWHERE, BUT NO ONE REALLY CARED, IT ALWAYS BURNED UP THERE BEFORE

They sent a carrier out from Norfolk

I watched the mighty skyline fall.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBPbOjA_cWg

They turned our power down, drove us underground, but we went right on with the show.

They said the Queens could stay, blew the Bronx Away, and sank Manhattan out at sea.

One in a small town - maybe - but two seems unlikely.

Two churches? At the same time?

I don’t think so.

There was a farmer whose combine, tractor with grain cart and two tractor trailers were set on fire because when he left them in his field overnight he had a Trump flag flying between 2 of the pieces of machinery. This happened in rural Nebraska. Communists are everywhere.

I never knew what that song was about. I’m still not sure. Hey did he lose a lot of weight? I thought five or so years ago he looked much older and terrible.

That’s really him in 2017? He looks good

For some explanation read the comments on these

https://www.songfacts.com/facts/billy-joel/miami-2017-seen-the-lights-go-out-on-broadway

https://songmeanings.com/songs/view/77961/

I recall it from my first major encounter with it over 30 years ago as being a song expressing a form of local patriotism for those of my fellow undergraduates who felt themselves to be in exile Far Above Cayuga’s Waters because they found Upstate to be another world.

Which it was, but they still hadn’t encountered that other world, as Ithaca is another universe— a chunk of downstate mixed in with people from other eastern urban centres dropped upon upstate like Dorothy’s House upon the wicked witch of the east.

BLL has an awesome pinglist—Ithaca is Evil.

About Ithaca or about the song?

I like the song.
