To say she has a special relationship with Jesus is an understatement. She is his mother and due the unique honor in the church and heaven. This is an area where many Protestants are ignorant or in their anti-Catholic bigotry - wrongly marginalize Jesus' mother.
It's also true that Mary was a sinner in need of a Saviour. "My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in GOD MY SAVIOUR." -Luke 1:46,47.
The following verse should put to rest that anyone other than Jesus intercedes to the Father for men: "For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" - 1 Timothy 2:5
Mary, the God-bearer, the Theotokos, the mother of God, who was created by her Son and whose Son preceded her was also saved by her son
Mary like all other Christians died, was buried and her flesh rotted in the ground...
Jesus never gave due diligence to the thought of his mother...He never even addressed or acknowledged her as Mother, or Mom, or Ma...But you know who he did acknowledge as his mother???
Luk 11:27 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.
This woman may have been the first Orthodox or Catholic...She's trying to give Jesus' mother some credit or reverence for something she wasn't entitled to...And of course Jesus confirms this here...
Luk 11:28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
Luk_14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
This applied to Jesus mother as well...
Luk 8:20 And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.
Luk 8:21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.
Jesus never acknowledged his mother at this or any other event...Don't you find that strange since you claim she is the Queen of Heaven???
But Jesus points to the crowd and says, 'these people are my mother................
Jesus had no interest in any one's flesh...Even his mother's...That crowd out there was obviously not Jesus' birth mother...They were his spiritual mother...And Jesus' spiritual mother and brethren is what drove Jesus to preach...And THAT is a mystery revealed only to born again Christians...
That's a convention idea that is riddled with varying interpretation. If we think God chose Mary, by happenstance, being just another sinful Jewish girl who would say yes to a baby out of wedlock .... then her need for a Savior is logical. But context of all Marian Scripture needs to be understood...
... And he came to her and said, “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!”....
...“Do not be afraid, Mary, for YOU have found favor with God...
...“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born[d] will be called holy, the Son of God. (And ONLY God can create this for Mary)
... and culminates into the moment Mary begins Christ mission, daringly interceding for the wedding guests by saying - Whatsoever he shall say to you, do ye.
This stumbling block has the same causality as the Christian turned atheist who will tell you that Christ too was a sinner and indeed needed to be Baptized for his sinfulness - as ALL fall short, and are sinners.. yada yada.
Well If that's where the Christian logic takes us. then we need to get off that train now...
There is a significant difference between an intercessor and a mediator. Jesus is the ONLY mediator between us and the Father but we have MANY intercessors. You do ask your brothers and sisters to intercede (pray) for you, right?
Matthew 11:11
Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
Why does no one give Jesus' grandmother any recognition?
