Charles Spurgeon prophetically remarked of the coming Laodicean Church Age when he said that ‘instead of pastors feeding the sheep, you would have clowns feeding the goats’, and has that ever come stunningly true. Joel Osteen, America’s most-popular motivational speaker and pretend preacher has now put 400 of his “most successful positive affirmations’ into a push-button cube that sits on your desk, waiting to lead you and guide you. If the bible is true, Joel Osteen is a liar.
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;” 1 Timothy 4:1,2 (KJB)
When Joel Osteen is teaching you how to ‘change your life’ by ‘positive affirmations’ and speaking things into existence, he is leading you down the path of New Age paganism. Just for good measure, he will sprinkle some God-ish buzzwords and phrases to make it sound Christian, but it is nothing more than what the pagans like Oprah Winfrey refer to as ‘manifesting‘, or ‘the Law of Attraction‘ and it is of the Devil. Why you would want this put into a cube, at any price, and placed on your table is beyond me. Take that $39.99 and send it to a bible believing church with a missions program.

I don’t even have words to describe the idiocy that Joel Osteen and peddlers like him push as they continue to steer those who want their ears tickled straight into hell.
Paul describes our times perfectly in 2 Timothy 4:3-4
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”

A local large church has adopted some of Osteens methods and piled traditional African American church principles on top of them. So it is an evangelical Osteen-style church.
They were the first church to open after Covid shut everything down.

I’ll bet it’s twice as effective when you drink Peter Popoff’s “Miracle Spring Water”.
I’ve read and listened to a lot of motivational speakers. Every one of them interjects bible scripture/wisdom into their message, but they use it as a sort of “rewriting proverbs and Ecclesiastes in modern English and with modern examples. But they are not preachers, nor pretend to be.
I just see Joel as one of them, but he paints himself as more of a religious leader as well. I’m not a fan of Joel, and have not been exposed to a lot of his stuff because I’ve heard enough to know that he’s really an “entertaining motivational speaker”, and I’m no longer pursuing that.
I would never go to him for any sort of religeous advice any more than I’d do that with Brian Tracy or Zig Zeigler.
Joel Osteen isn’t the tragedy. His congregation of thousands is the tragedy.

An even bigger tragedy is that when the lost crowd sees fraudsters like Osteen, they assume all Bible believing Christians are like him.
I had to look to make sure it wasn’t Babylon Bee satire. sadly, it’s not.
Which God will reward him accordingly.
