2600 years ago the Jewish prophet Ezekiel predicted an unlikely coalition of nations that would rise in the last days and make a push to control the Middle East and destroy the regathered nation of Israel. The leading nation of this coalition is Russia (Land of Magog, Meshech (Moscow), and Tubal (Tobolsk)). I will talk about the Iran and Turkey in forthcoming articles...
Ezekiel 38:2 "Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: 4...I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: [...] 7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them. 8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel"
Historically, the East Slavic tribes emerged as a recognizable group as late as the 8th century in Europe led by the Varangian (Rus and Viking elites). Adopting Orthodox Christianity in the 10th century brought the Slavs into the Byzantine Empire sphere of influence. The State of Rus suffered a number of fragmenting Islamic and Mongol invasions, but was reunified by the Grand Duchy of Moscow in the 15th century becoming the flag bearer of Orthodox Christianity after the fall of the Byzantines in Constantinople in 1453 (affectionately called "Holy Mother Russia").
Holy Mother Russia expanded greatly through the 18th century through conquest, and annexation to become the Russian Empire, the third largest empire in history stretching from Poland to Alaska. However, inept leadership and a corrupt Church Clergy led to the atheistic Russian Revolution of 1917 spawning the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). The Russian led Soviet Union played a decisive role in World War II and emerged as a superpower to rival the United States by virtue of its size.
However, the Soviet era ushered in a disastrous 70 years of crippling economic socialism and brutal atheistic anti-Christianity. Russian Christians were brutally supressed and people forced to deny its tenets. The dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 (aided by the United States and allies) brought a new Vladimir Putin dominated non-democratic Russia with Russian Orthodoxy again the State Religion.
Though not the empire of the past, Russia is still one of the strongest nations militarily, being recognized as one of five nuclear weapons states and possessing the largest stockpile of weapons of mass destruction. Russia's economy ranks as number 11 in the world because of its vast natural resources and it is one of the leading producers of oil and natural gas globally. However, Russia has an Achilles Heel; 70 years of Soviet Socialism have inhibited free market entrepranurialism and causing a distorted economy primarily dependent upon Oil and Gas. As Oil and Gas prices plummet, Russia plummets.
So why would Russia Want to Destroy Israel? Gas! While the global market for oil has always been competitive, oil producing behemoth Russia has been able to offset low oil prices with naturl gas sales, primarily to Europe and Asia. But recently a new entrant into the Global Natural Gas market has become a existential economic threat to Russia: Israel. Israel's recent monster natural gas discoveries are predicted to produce more gas than Europe consumes annually and enough to meet growing Asian demand. Logically, as David Wurmser of the Jewish Policy Center wrote in Spring 2013, "if Russia does not manage to gain controlling interests in Israel’s gas sector, Israeli exports will tread on its sacred interests... a strategic challenge which Moscow will answer..."
Amazingly, the Bible foretells that Russia will already be entrenched in the Middle East (Syria) and reveals the reason for this invasion...
Ezekiel 38:9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee. 10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought: 11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, 12 To take a spoil.
Israel will not willingly give up their rights to the Tamar and Leviathan gas fields. So in order to save Russia from losing its market share in Europe and Asia, Russia must forcably take control of the natural gas fields off the coast of Syria. Their mediterranean naval fleet, troops, and foothold in Syria give them a strong launch pad to do so. However, Israel is the strongest military in the region (and Nuclear). Since the collapse of the Soviet Union Russia has not been powerful enough (despite attempting to in 1973) without a coalition of the willing. Enter Iran and Turkey which I will talk about in the forthcoming articles. Russia’s is currently Iran’s chief arms supplier and Turkey, after its Islamic takeover by Rycip Erdogan, has taken an about face regarding its NATO membership, looking north to Russia as ally and big brother.
What will become of this coalition? The Bible foretells the following...
Ezekiel 39:2 And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel: 3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand. 4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. 5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
Why does the Lord do this? The answer is three fold...
1. Show the world that He is God (Ezekiel 39:6)
2. Show Israel that He is the God of Israel (Ezekiel 39:7)
3. To pour out His spirit upon them (Jews) so they will look upon Him whom they have pierced (Jesus Christ) and mourn for Him, and say "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord". (Ezekiel 39:29, Zechariah 12:10, Matthew 23:39)
Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son
Matthew 23:39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth*, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

If those conditions are what the author claims— it could be because a of completely different scenario.
It’s all lining up a lot faster than most people realize.
There are many theories as to why the US doesn’t intervene in this invasion of Israel.
1. We’re destroyed by then which makes the onslaught that much easier
2. Regime change at the domestic leadership level with Dims in charge
3. Harpazo cripples the nation to it’s knees as well as most other Christian nations.
Either way, since that evil coalition is meeting regularly these days and all 3 nations have massive population decline issues, this narrows the shelf life for this invasion to occur. We have to be close.

The gas fields off Israel are a conflict point, but the main one in the region was the Shiite/Sunnis split. Russia would come to the aid of Iran and the Shiites in general. That is obvious now. And the Sunni would be aided by Israel. Istael us mow strategically aligned with the House of Saud against Iran. Perhaps Trump just defused that for awhile.

As has been said so many, many times before, we don't know (or predict) dates. But, Jesus implores us to watch, and chastised the Scribes and Pharisees for not recognizing the season of His first coming.
Personally, I definitely believe we are in the season of the Last Days.
The Ezekiel coalition forming that you spoke of is one signpost.
Others must be:
- the apostasy of our day, including demominations that were once strongly Biblical Christian
- the incredible push for Globalism (and its chosen instrument of "Climate Change") to institute tyranny on earth
- the Satanic pope Francis, with all his lies, attacks on Christians (see his screed on "fundamentalists" that he hates so much), his apostasy, and his heart of evil. I believe he is the #1 candidate for the False Prophet
- Israel back in the land, prosperous, but under siege
- the absolute insanity of our day, including denying that men are men and women are women, ethnic hatred predicted by Christ ("Ethnos against ethnos"), the explosion of immorality, the murder of the unborn in the millions, and on and on
Let us, as brothers and sisters, take heart. Christ knows each and every one of us better than we know ourselves. He knows of our current struggles, disappointments, and tragedies. He knows our needs. He will never abandon us.
#2 is a real possibility, although I pray the Lord gives us 4 more years with sanity at the helm of this country. Being of a pre-millennial mind-set, I don’t think we’ll be here to see it when it gets to the point of Israel’s war.
