Jesus wasn't very nice, and that's a good thing

Jesus wasn't nice, and I can say this with absolute certainty.  Therefore, I get disgusted when I see a lot of churches and preachers trying to emasculate the teachings of Christ into a simple "just be nice" doctrine.  When a Christian dares deviate from this, liberals pounce and call someone's faith into question, as we saw last week with Christianity Today's attack on President Trump.  That is a deep perversion of the truth and the Lion of Judah's message.

Nice people don't make enemies, and Jesus Christ had enemies in excess.  King Herod believed an infant Jesus to be a usurper.  The Pharisees hated Jesus since His teachings often contradicted their actions.  Because cancel culture was also a thing in the first century, the Pharisees ultimately saw their popularity plummet and wanted revenge.  The Romans wanted punishment for calling Himself a King while the Jews called for his crucifixion because He was nicknamed the Son of God.

Even today, Jesus is attacked.  Democrats like Speaker Pelosi claim to be Catholic while their own policies like abortions and failing to prosecute criminals go against the core of His teachings.  It's no wonder the vast majority of atheists vote Democrat.  If He were alive today, I have no doubts that modern liberals would boycott Him.

"After these things Jesus was walking in Galilee, for He was unwilling to walk in Judea because the Jews were seeking to kill Him." —John 7:1.

Today, spineless bishops use passionless sermons to preach about acceptance and forgiveness.  Sure, these teachings undoubtedly have a place.  With that said, in churches all across the U.S, you'll be hard pressed to hear anything about the moral teachings that matter like conversion, virtue, and sexual morality.  On the off-chance that you do, they're minimalized and said nicely

They did (denounce Him). Publicly. Years ago. In fact, they did so THREE TIMES. Curious, eh?

Christ’s message is a complex one, and simple at the same time. He made it clear that being what God wishes us to be goes well beyond rules and ritual. I don’t think you can get there so easily, and it requires a lifetime of reflection and efforts to grow - however long ones life might be. He also made it clear that none of us can ‘earn’ our way into heaven, and must be forgiven. That’s also a lesson for us to forgive as well. In saying that, I’m not arguing against your points at all.

Merry Christmas!

Seems to have been a turning point, doesn't it?

It’s almost like it is a metaphysical requirement. They have to do it three times.

“When a Christian dares deviate from this, liberals pounce and call someone’s faith into question...”

If Liberals said anything worth listening to, I’d be worried about my soul. However, their utterings are literally farts in a windstorm, and worthy of no consideration concerning my life’s religious pursuits. Personally, I wonder why they even bother going to church. They are liars, thieves and murderers...and have no chance of passing thru the Pearly Gates. Church attendance for them is wasted energy...

The DNC convention in Charlotte for Barry Soetoro, 2012? We were watching it on TV. I was floored at the significance.

“After these things Jesus was walking in Galilee, for He was unwilling to walk in Judea because the Jews were seeking to kill Him.” —John 7:1.”

Since “Jews” and “Judeans” are the same word in Greek, a more logical translation would be, “...because the Judeans (likely a political faction) were seeking...”

Since everyone in the scene is Jewish, including Jesus and his disciples, and (most of) the people in Galilee, the former translation seems unlikely.

16). Jesus said, “Perhaps people think that I have come to cast peace upon the world. They do not know that I have come to cast conflicts upon the earth: fire, sword, war.

“For there will be five in a house: there’ll be three against two and two against three, father against son and son against father, and they will stand alone.”

Gospel of Thomas

One quibble. From the article:

Jesus also had convictions and a faith that He was willing to, and did, die for.

Jesus followed the will of the Father and also had convictions and the past, present, and future saints (the Bride of Christ) that He was willing to, and did, die for.

He died for us so we might live.

Abp Fulton Sheen called this decades ago:

“The modern world, which denies personal guilt and admits only social crimes, which has no place for personal repentance but only public reforms, has divorced Christ from His Cross; the Bridegroom and Bride have been pulled apart. What God hath joined together, men have torn asunder. As a result, to the left is the Cross; to the right is the Christ”. […] Communism comes along and picks up the meaningless Cross; Western post-Christian civilization chooses the unscarred Christ.”

“Communism has chosen the Cross in the sense that it has brought back to an egotistic world a sense of discipline, self-abnegation, surrender, hard work, study, and dedication to supraindividual goals. But the Cross without Christ is sacrifice without love. Hence, Communism has produced a society that is authoritarian, cruel, oppressive of human freedom, filled with concentrantion camps, firing squads, and brain-washings”

“The Western post-Christian civilization has picked up the Christ without His Cross. But a Christ without a sacrifice that reconciles the world to God is a cheap, feminized, colorless, itinerant preacher who deserves to be popular for His great Sermon on the Mount, but also merits unpopularity for what He said about His Divinity on the one hand, and divorce, judgment, and hell on the other. This sentimental Christ is patched together with a thousand commonplaces. […] Without His Cross, He becomes nothing more than a sultry precursor of democracy or a humanitarian who taught brotherhood without tears”.

He had sympathy for the sinner but had no acceptance of the sin.

Liberals always misquote His sympathetic tone leaving out the other half of his message, to go and sin no more.

I enjoy my imagination immensely.

Jesus sat outside the temple braiding a whip to be used on the money changers.

That took a little time

We often read (I am guilty) scripture in a sort of disjointed way, like, everything happens (in the language in our heads as we read) one after another, but Jesus knew what he was going to do and had already gathered together the materiel, or was able to find the stuff nearby that He then had to braid into a rope/whip strong and long enough to be effective as our READING minds just sort'a gloss over HOW the whip came to be in the FIRST place.

It took a little time

Was Jesus in prayer during that time ?

Scripture doesn't say.

Of the repentant thief on the cross;

EVERY little boy, when he asks his mother what she wants for Mother's Day or her birthday or Christmas, gets the same answer;

"Just be a good boy"

I don't think mothers have changed since Eve, and I can see the repentant thief in the dungeon awaiting his execution date sorrowing away being reminded that HIS mother only wanted a good boy.

THAT'S the tenderness that gave him the guts to finally say to his sin (literally and figuratively),

"Shut UP! ... I've listened to you and NOW look at me .... and I deserve this ... but Jesus does not"

That statement was born on death row awaiting death

Merry Christmas

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 [Full Chapter]
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Jews called for his crucifixion because He was nicknamed the Son of God.

Just a minor edit.

God did not come to make peace between men, he came to make available peace between each man and God.

I’m glad he did. Merry Christmas.
