Pope Francis Tells His Followers that 'True Disciples of Jesus' Do Not Share Their Faith, Says Christ Rejecting People Are All 'Children of God'

Asked by one of the students Friday how a Christian should treat people of other faiths or no faith, the pope said that “we are all the same, all children of God” and that true disciples of Jesus do not proselytize.

Pope Francis said that his experience growing up in Argentina with its waves of immigration was a great help in learning to respect other people.

“There is a mixture of blood, a strong miscegenation in Argentina — I am the son of a migrant — and this made for a culture of coexistence,” he said. “I went to public school and we always had companions from other religions. We were educated to coexistence.”

“This taught me a lot, that we are all the same, all children of God and this purifies your gaze, it humanizes it,” he said. “In Argentina, there is a small group of narrow-minded Catholics who do not want Jews, do not want Muslims but this group, I never liked it, it is a fringe group, they have a cultural magazine but they do not have impact in society and when I used to teach I saw them for what they were, this is the secret.”

Pope Francis went on to say that a Christian should never try to convince others of the truth of Christianity, but should simply give a testimony of consistency and wait for others to ask about the faith.

On his very rare best days, this pope is a fool. On all the other days he is an idiot. He does not serve Christ well, and does great harm, daily, to his church.

Frankie is a lowlife scumbag Marxist thug. He knows exactly what he's doing. He is to religion what Obama is to politics.

So Francis rejects the Great Commission? That's tantamount to his resignation from not only the papacy but the priesthood as well. What the heck does he think the job description of a priest IS?

Actually, it's in the job description of all Christians. But the Pope is supposed to know this stuff.

"I’m no fan of this Pope, however the title is misleading."

I’m no fan of this pope either. But I do understand that the pope has media enemies just like PDJT does.

Only through Christ are we given the power to become children of God. Without Christ we have another father.

I’m not sure who is more thrilled by this papacy; the world’s Marxists, or the “Whore of Babylon” nutballs on FR.

the funny thing (or is it a sad thing ?) 13 Years of Roman Catholic Schooling and it seems they hid the bible on us.
Whatever bible we did get was thru the epistles and gospels at Mass.
The teaching was from the Baltimore Catechism.

"I call upon Roman Catholics to depart from this mess and turn to Christianity and begin to follow Christ, and only Christ."

Nope...Catholics are not about to abandon the ONE Church founded by Jesus Christ. What they WILL do is pay less and less attention to this ideological moron and pray for God to remedy the situation. We have been assured that He will do so (in Scripture, no less).

The title is hardly misleading.

His quote:

“The last thing I should do is to try to convince an unbeliever. Never,” he said. “The last thing I should do is speak. I should live my faith with consistency. And it will be my witness that will awaken the curiosity of the other who may then ask: ‘But why do you do this?’ And yes, then I can speak.”

“But listen, the gospel is never, ever advanced through proselytism,” he continued. “If someone says he is a disciple of Jesus and comes to you with proselytism, he is not a disciple of Jesus. Proselytism is not the way; the Church does not grow by proselytism.”

Had I not been ‘proselytized’ to about 25 years ago, I would never know the True Gospel.

This evil man is advising his deluded flock to keep their mouths shut and let those unbelievers continue on as ‘children of god’ and end up in hell when they die.

The truth is love! John 14:6

The Great Commission Matthew 28

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

As a Christian, I’ve never understood the Catholic opposition to the Great Commission.

But there never has been any doubt they oppose it.

I was raised Catholic as well.
Quite a shock at how Biblically Illiterate I was upon finding out I was lost through Scripture.

So, according to the Pope, the apostles of Jesus were not “true apostles of Jesus” because they proselytized! Peter, Paul, and the others should have just stayed at home! Christianity should never have been spread to Africa, Europe, and South America - it should have just remained a tiny Jewish sect and died off.

"To share ones faith is different from what he actually said. Prosletizing is attempting to convert someone. Sharing ones faith to me means just that. It’s up to the person what he or she decides to do with it."

I think it's a distinction without a difference. We aren't talking about forced conversions or high-pressure tactics, and we aren't talking about street preachers, who "cast their pearls before swine." We are talking about normal evangelism.

Rome knows if you start reading the Bible you will begin to ask questions they cannot answer.

A few thoughts:

1) Most proselytizing is sharing one’s personal faith experience. You give out a tract of YOUR story. Although God is given a complementary role in the story.

2) When Jesus sent out the disciples he told them what to say and if the people didn’t want to hear it, shake the dust from your feet and move on. Don’t camp out if they don’t want to hear it.

3) So what was the message they told? All indications it was, “REPENT AND TURN TO GOD” Now there was some evangelization! How many of us want to do this?

4) Jesus said “feed my sheep”. To feed the sheep, you to find them. That is our evangelical mission, FIND THE SHEEP, the ones who have ears for the message. We don’t convert anyone, don’t even try.

5) If we are going to feed the sheep, we better have something to give them. We better be reading God’s word and the Holy Spirit at work in our lives.

6) There aren’t a lot of Jesus sheep out there, but each is precarious. If we can be used to find them, that is a pretty good thing.

There's a certain amount of truth (or should I say Truth?) to this. We ARE all God's children. Check.

We shouldn't try to convince people of the error of their ways unless they are already believers who straying out of the lane. Jesus did that. Although there was that one incident involving the money changers out in front of the temple.

As for reaching those who are truly lost, there are plenty of people out there who are struggling through life and looking for answers. Our behavior, our demeanor, the expression on our faces create an atmosphere, or a "spirit", a Holy Spirit, if you will, that strikes a chord within them that will prompt them to ask us where we get our peace and joy from. Boom! Then you got 'em hooked.

I can't remember who said it (I think it was Francis of Assisi or Augustine), but someone said, "Preach The Gospel at all times. If necessary, use words."

I'm not sure if this is the message this Francis was trying to get across but it should've been.
