The Top 10 Bible Prophecy Stories of 2019
Olive Tree Views ^ | Jan Markell

There was a time when news of last days’ significance was sporadic. I could easily do a weekly radio program and hit the highlights of the week in an hour or two on air. In the last decade, that has all changed. Now, when trying to prepare a new message on the signs of the times, I find myself having to leave out information due to volume. Some things just have to be set aside.

In light of that, let me present what I think are the top ten Bible prophecy signs of 2019. As stated, I could present 110. In some cases, these signs are Tribulation-related events but they are still casting a shadow on the Church Age. They are not in order of importance because each item is important!

1) The spirit of the Antichrist has been poured out around the world.

In dozens of countries, we see anarchy, lawlessness, rage, and violence. It even came to the heartland of Minneapolis when President Trump spoke here in October. The area around the rally turned into a war zone. It is now cool to be a member of Antifa and to create destruction.

2) The last year has seen the rise of Romans 1 behavior and thinking, the explosion of strong delusion, and the increase in the hatred of God.

There is a collective shrug over things like “Drag Queen Story Hour.” So what, yet this measures our decay more than anything else. A 6’5” male won the “woman of the week” award at the University of Montana—strong delusion.

5) The mocking and scoffing of the truth has risen to new levels (II Peter 3).

6) Christians and Jews are on the run.

7) The “epicenter”—the Middle East—is in a shake-up.

8) The efforts of the globalists were advanced in the last year.

9) The Church of Laodicea blossomed and lurched even further to the left in the last year.

10) The surveillance of humanity is now big business and privacy is completely gone.

I think Jan Markell hits a home run with her analysis of our times. A lot of us are starting to see it even bleed into our own lives and families.

Christians and Jews are on the run.

I dare say the seeds of this have been planted here in the US as well. Soon, it will be a crime to be a follower of Jesus Christ in the United States of America, and God will judge the nation for it. It is my personal belief that the continent will be destroyed either right before, or right after, the Rapture of the Church.

We should be careful not to read things into the text that are not there, such as “newspaper eschatology.” This means that our method of biblical interpretation uses Scripture to interpret Scripture. Another common error is assuming dual fulfillment of prophecy in the New Testament. Theologians make a distinction between “eisegesis” (reading things INTO the text) and “exegesis” (attempting to understand what the writers themselves intended. Only EXEGESIS is legitimate. Thus, some are interested in defending their own presuppositions, desires, and speculations. This is especially true in Bible prophecy, where they read the Bible through the lens of the daily newspaper, when they should be reading it through the lens of the original audience. IF these modern interpreters offer any Bible verses for their position (often not), they twist them to reach a pre-ordained conclusion. Instead, we ought to be interested in studying what the Bible actually teaches, using Scripture to interpret Scripture!

Take a look at my article “How To Interpret the Bible” here:

HISTORY OF FALSE PROPHETS AMONG OUR CHRISTIAN BROTHERS

In every generation after the apostles, there have been Christians who mistakenly believed that they were in the last days. They have thought that their generation was the one Jesus spoke of when He prophesied that “all these things” would happen in “this generation.” Failed prognosticators have been a persistent embarrassment to Christianity. Perhaps there is something fundamentally wrong with these predictions.

Francis Gumerlock, in his book THE DAY AND THE HOUR: CHRISTIANITY’S PERENNIAL FASCINATION WITH PREDICTING THE END OF THE WORLD, lists end times prophecy predictions made by Christians beginning in the early centuries. He catalogs more than a thousand failed predictions since the early days of Christianity, beginning with the apostolic fathers.

For example, Ignatius writes around the year AD 100 that “the last times are come upon us.” Cyprian (200-258) writes that “the day of affliction has begun to hang over our heads, and the end of the world and the time of the Antichrist. . . draw near, so that we must all stand prepared for the battle.”

Martin Luther made this statement: “I am satisfied that the last day must be before the door; for the signs predicted by Christ and the Apostles Peter and Paul have now all been fulfilled, the trees put forth, the Scriptures are green and flourishing. . . . We certainly have nothing now to wait for but the end of all things.”

Famous among predictors of the end of the world was Christopher Columbus. Columbus wrote a book entitled BOOK OF PROPHECIES in which he called on many of the same passages of Scripture that false prophets cite today to predict the imminent end of the world. He apparently thought that his discoveries marked the beginning of the end.

The famous American Puritan preacher Cotton Mather believed Christ’s return to be imminent and saw apocalyptic meaning in the conflicts and challenges of the American frontier. Mather was also a date setter. He predicted the Second Coming for 1697, then 1716, and finally 1736. The New Jerusalem, he believed, would be located in New England.

Here are more examples of end-times dating from Christians as well as pseudo-Christian cultists:

—Ellen G. White (co-founder—Seventh Day Adventist Church): 1843, 1844, 1850, 1856.
—Joseph Smith (founder—Mormon Church): 1891.
—Jehovah’s Witnesses: 1874, 1878, 1881, 1910, 1914, 1918, 1925, 1975, and 1984.
—Hal Lindsey: 1982, 1988, 2007, with contingency dates going as far as 2048.
—Jack Van Impe: 1975, 1992, 2000, 2012.
—Chuck Smith (founder of Calvary Chapel): before 1981
—Pat Robertson: 1982.
—Edgar C. Whisenant: 1988, 1989.
—Bill Maupin: 1988.
—J.R. Church: 1988.
—Charles R. Taylor: 1992.
—Benny Hinn: 1993.
—F. M. Riley: 1994.
—John Hinkle: 1994.
—Grant R. Jeffrey: 2000.
—Lester Sumrall: 1985, 1986, 2000.
—Kenneth Hagin: 1997 to 2000.
—Jerry Falwell: 2010.
—Louis Farrakhan: 1991.
—John Hagee (at age 71): before he dies.
—Harold Camping: 1994, 2011.
—Ronald Weinland: 2011, 2012.
—Perry Stone: 2009-2015
—Billy Graham: Even this venerable preacher began telling us in the 1930’s to expect the soon return of Christ.

Pastors all across America’s fruited plains have books of some of these authors proudly displayed in their office libraries. The same books, and videos too, fly off Christian bookstore shelves, and the money continues to flow to these authors and many others of the same ilk. While some of these authors may be good teachers on other subjects, their false predictions force us to doubt their views on eschatology. Many of the above people will be forgotten, but whenever you happen to be reading this book, you will probably be hearing from a new generation of false teachers.

All of these prognosticators had something in common: They all thought they knew better than Jesus, who over and over told his followers that his prophecies would come to pass while some of them were still alive (Matthew 10:23; 16:27-28; 26:64; Luke 21:22, 32; etc.) There are over 100 such time statements in the New Testament that limit fulfillment of prophecy to the first century.

2019 isn't done yet. America's mission is to save the world and here comes Santa Claus.

So many positive waves! It's exactly why and how Joshua and Caleb made it through the 40 years in the wilderness.

Sin of the spies: negative waves, the ten essentially answering to the name Moriarty.

Aunt Bethany had it exactly right when she told everyone,

"PLAY BALL!"

God said that He'd destroy the wisdom of the wise.

The biggest "take out the trash" day of the year is the day after Christmas.

“HISTORY OF FALSE PROPHETS AMONG OUR CHRISTIAN BROTHERS”

Including the Preterists who can’t even get the timeline of the Son of Perdition right.

Who was he according to you?
And how did all those Jews, Mayans, Africans, and Persians see the two Revelation Witnesses when Rome destroyed the Temple?

If you can’t answer these questions with historical fact & scripture - we’ll be happy to add your name to the list of cultists below.

I’ve read a similar theory proposed by another Prophecy writer some time back regarding N & S America being destroyed at the same time.

It’s interesting to note that 1/4 of the world’s population gets wiped out in the first half of the Tribulation.

America is living on borrowed time.

I agree, the nation is indeed living on borrowed time. Open homosexuality, the murder of babies, open greed and deceit coming from the government, etc, it's all being tallied in Heaven.

As for the nation's destruction? The continent sits upon so many fault lines, earthquake zones, sleeping volcanoes (Yellowstone!!); all it would take is the God of Heaven triggering all those at the same time and the North America is finished.

As SS/Outreach leader, I sent her article as a word attachment with my newsletter to pastors/leaders in our Baptist Association. I decided to use word so the links within the article would be available. Included in the article . . . a demon book for children at Walmart/Barnes and Noble, etc. We are living in a sad and sick world . . .

Thanks for sending it out!
It’s hard to imagine how much more time The Lord will allow this nation to survive.

The Luciferians are unapologetic about going after our children.

Even so, Come Lord Jesus!
