At one point did they lose the power to talk :)
All I know is if a snake started talking to me, the last thing I would be worried about is temptation.
I’d be running away just about as fast as these fat legs could carry me :)
I would drop the crack pipe, pull out the opioid syringe, put out the joint and pour out the beer if a snake started talking to me.

Amazingly, most folks don’t realize that all the animals spoke in a language that was understood by Adam and Eve.
Adam and Eve spoke the same language as did the animals.
If that were not the *normal* process in the day to day living, no matter what the snake said to Eve, when she told Adam about the discussion he would have immediately decided to NOT follow what Eve was asking him to do.
The fact that Adam didn’t find it odd tells us that the creature (snake) whom Eve spoke with was a normal occurrence.
