With this latest "accompaniment" stunt, Sartain may get a red hat from Francis.

He couldn’t even get his suicide note right. 100 Seconals is hardly “natural”. What an idiot. Sick idiot. A child molester. Spit on the Bible being gay. Spit on the marriage sacrament. So much looooove for his pervert partner to kill yourself on the wedding day. Thou shalt not kill just went out the window. It used to be that suicides couldn’t be buried on sacred grounds such as a church cemetery.

I hate to see a man shriveled-up by cancer like that even if he is living a life contrary to church and Biblical morality, but I cannot condone the actions of the bishop or the diocese in giving such a send-off to an open and unrepentant sinner. Pray for him, yes, but do not celebrate him as some sort of role model.

And his "partner" looks about 40 years younger than him - what's that all about?

This event was celebrated in the local media, and gives scandal to the few remaining faithful. An apostate Catholic myself, I have been giving thought to returning to the Church in my later years, but stuff like this makes me think that the Church is totally lost, and I'll be looking elsewhere.

Does anyone ever get “fired” within the Catholic Church?

He has a lot of explaining to do when he stands before his maker. I doubt any of it will do him any good. Am I being judgemental? You betcha.

What does one do when the Shepard's become the enables of the wolves or wolves themselves.

Ho hum, homos dying of throat cancer, menopausal ladies giving blessings, woke children, lame bishops, lying spokesmen... just an ordinary day in the Church.

Why not spice up this funeral with some whirling dervishes and amazonian sacrifices? Move things forward! Hagan lio!

True, I guess. The guy was dropping a pound a day. With 55 days to go he weighed 144. Why is it preferable that he spend an extra 6 or 7 days wasting away in bed and in pain?

Hmm, last I recall was Matthew Fox in the 80’s. Last I saw him he was leading a spirituality seminar, sitting in a big outdoor circle of seekers of truth, praying to a dead bird.

Those days might bring on repentance.

There is such a thing as a memorial service which would cover the “pastoral” response for those who are in mourning. But a full Mass of Christian burial for a person living and then dying in mortal sin with no sign of repentance is pure scandal and a bow to evil.

Well, at least it wasn’t a gay bird.

Sartain as a bishop is a joke. If the church had a real pope there is no way in hell this priest would pull the queer crap in a Catholic Catholic Church, but with Bergoglio in charge homo James Martin might as well be the pope.

It used to be the Catholics who picked the parts of Catholicism that they wanted to follow were called cafeteria Catholics. Now we have cafeteria clergy just great why bother with a church if it doesn’t matter what you do or why you do it and everybody has their own idea of what it means to be a Catholic I give up

Last year I had a big argument with my younger sister - a member of her church choir, and long-time Catholic school employee - about her "fake Catholicism."

Since then, I've come to see that in many Catholic parishes in the Seattle area - and nationwide - what I called "fake Catholicism" is now the norm.

I don't doubt you believe that sincerely, but it strikes me as sadistic.

We don’t know if this person was forgiven or not. If he went to Confession or not.

Another thing is to read about the rules of the Catholic Church about suicide. Most people who commit suicide are mentally ill and not capable of a rational decision.

One cannot receive prior absolution for a sin he intends to commit.
