He’s an idiot who NEVER believed or had faith.

He was a charlatan zealot who cares more about appearances and status than ever what God wanted in his life.

So he didn't do all this for the glory of God? Seems using Christianity was his best opportunity to take the stage and he took it.

If you think that God will condemn those who love and follow Him (I am including the entire Trinity), you are not much of a Christian.

If you think that God should accept into His presence those who have mindfully rejected Him, you don’t understand His word.

God is love. He has reached out to all of humanity. Those who hear His call and choose to separate themselves from Him are making an eternal decision. There are two places for your eternal soul - in the presence of God, or outside of the presence of God. You get to choose which of these will be your resting place.

I choose to be with God. This composer has chosen the alternative. How very sad.

All progress begins with telling the truth.

It is the correct place to start.

Now may he come to saving faith in Christ.

Does anyone have any more info on why or what happened? Ive played in a church band and it was always like family. we had our ups and downs. some got dis-illusioned, but no one denounced their faith. We laughed and we cried together but always had each others backs. My own family wasn’t as close as the band.

If he never encountered questions (and answers) about why evil things happen, or hell, or sickness, or apparent contradictions in the Bible, then he didn’t read the Bible much (Job?) and Hillsong utterly failed him.

Rather than condemn him, I condemn Hillsong for using someone who apparently was never grounded in the Word. For thrusting him into the limelight before he was ready. And for not teaching the whole truth. Babes should not be required to be leaders, and any church needs to teach the whole truth, not just the convenient truth - “the whole plan of God” and not just the parts that make people feel happy:

“22 “And now I am on my way to Jerusalem, bound in my spirit, not knowing what I will encounter there, 23 except that in town after town the Holy Spirit testifies to me that chains and afflictions are waiting for me.....25 “And now I know that none of you will ever see my face again—everyone I went about preaching the kingdom to. 26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of everyone’s blood, 27 for I did not shrink back from declaring to you the whole plan of God. 28 Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock that the Holy Spirit has appointed you to as overseers, to shepherd the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood. 29 I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 And men will rise up from your own number with deviant doctrines to lure the disciples into following them. 31 Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for three years I did not stop warning each one of you with tears.

32 “And now I commit you to God and to the message of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you an inheritance among all who are sanctified.” - Acts 20

Shame on Hillsong.

Why should anyone be surprised? Judas walked and talked with Jesus every day as one of the Twelve, and he fell away.

One of the signs of the End Times is a “great falling away,” a winnowing of the wheat and the chaff. Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus.

1 John 2:18-19
18 Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.

I hope that’s not where he is, but that’s what it sounds like.

“How many miracles happen. Not many. No one talks about it. Why is the Bible full of contradictions? No one talks about it. How can God be love yet send 4 billion people to a place, all coz they don’t believe? No one talks about it.”

This is very telling, and it amounts to a pretty good indictment of the modern evangelical church and Christian contemporary music, particularly the shallowness of both. READ A BOOK! These are subjects about which thousands of pages have been written, starting within a few years of the Crucifixion and continuing to the present. It’s feelings versus thinking. From what I can tell, the guy isn’t dumb, but he certainly seems ignorant. He’s thinking about things, which is good, but has no basis for inquiry and no support to get what he needs, which is bad. Somebody send this poor guy some C.S. Lewis audio books, ASAP.

All “seeker-sensitive” churches I’ve been too fail the baby Christians it says it’s trying to keep. They never address controversial teachings that could offend or even just require work or deep thinking. They say the “nice” things from the Bible and never grow their parishioners beyond that.

They also take an operational approach toward getting people in and keeping them. It’s more programmed than a fast food restaurant.

These are really just Christian social groups that appeal to the least common denominator and Christians who want something more solid have to leave the Gerber’s pureed apple sauce of these churches for the meat and potatoes of real Christ-centered churches, elsewhere.

It’s probably well-intentioned, but always winds up a travesty.

St. Paul worried about losing his faith and allowing his sinful human nature to destroy him. Faith is a struggle in which we have to face the unholy Trinity of world, Devil, and flesh. Many will allow these enemies of Christ to destroy them. I fear that many of these mega-churches and televangelists are only “acting” and using the Gospel as a means of gain.

“He continued: “I want genuine truth. Not the ‘I just believe it’ kind of truth. Science keeps piercing the truth of every religion,” he writes.”

If you’re after the genuine truth about religion, you can’t find it. It is based upon faith with an explanation some equate and understand.

The science you refer to, is based upon theory and not fact, also. So how can you say it pierces something it can’t explain either? And science is supposed to be based upon fact, not faith. Therefore, he needs to consider which one, religious belief or scientific guess, is right for him. One offers nothing as it can’t be proven to the point of its requirement of truth. And the other needs to existence only in faith and offers eternal life. So I guess you could say the faith of a religion is a science as their are doctors in the field. How many pastors are scientists attempting to disprove religion?

Contemporary Christian music has been a great way to reach the next generation, but it tries too hard to be "cool."

Soon, being cool becomes the idol to the point where there is a tremendous fear of "not being cool."

This guy, with his fancy glasses, open leather jacket, gold chains and tats is trying too hard to be cool:

When faced by social disproval, he folds like a cheap suit.

Depart from ME. I never knew you.

God is Love. Absolutely. He gave the very Best of having to die on a cross so we’re I e might have the forgiveness of sin.

God is Holy. There can be no sin in his presence. There can be no unforgiven sinners in his Holy presence in Heaven.

The Lord Jesus said:

Matthew 7:13-14 King James Version (KJV)

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Maybe this guy needs to read his Bible. He sounds like he needs to be Born Again for the first time.

A Freeper posted this about ten days ago. If Hillsong is one of those feel-good churches that won’t hear of the wrath of G-d, this may shed some light on this discussion:
