Moscow, April 16, Interfax - Russian specialists with an extensive record of restoring medieval monuments may help rebuild Paris' Notre Dame Cathedral devastated by fire if necessary, the Kremlin said.
"It's true that we have some of the world's best specialists who have a vast record of restoring medieval monuments. Therefore, should such a need arise, we will be ready to dispatch them," Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.
When asked whether Moscow is considering extending financial assistance to France or providing timber to help rebuild the cathedral, Peskov said, "I don't doubt that, if any wood material that France doesn't have is needed for the cathedral's roof, although I don't think that Russian timber was used during the construction of the roof, but, still, if it is needed, such assistance will doubtless be provided."

They are actually the world's best. I've been to Russia, and some of the architecture and art that was restored from WWII damage is spectacular and impressively-done.
I think that is good. I think they have a lot of restoration experts.
They did a fabulous job on their own cathedrals.
American craftsmen have them Russkies over a barrel when it comes to arches and stuff.
Might be a good idea. Worth considering.

The Russians do spectacularly good restoration work. They have restored churches and even palaces that were destroyed during the Communist years or in the course of WWII. I was there a couple of years ago and I was truly impressed by the quality of their work.

Silliness. Part of me sincerely hopes you were joking. In your mind...They will pass on the plans for a wooden replica of a 1000 year old design... to terrorists. By the way, the Russians have just spent the last 10 or 15 years meticulously restoring Orthodox churches blown up and otherwise destroyed by the bolsheviks. They actually have more experience in restoring centuries old churches than probably anyone else out there currently.
I still chuckle and shake my head about that.
The onion domes in St Basil’s Cathedral form the most beautiful roof in the world, IMO. Even some of the Soviet architecture had a majesty to it. They suck at everything else, but they know from monumental architecture
Ask not who the SOBs are.
