[CatholicCaucus] Austrian Bishop Allows ‘Jesus Clock’ Made from Upside Down Corpus with Broken Arms

Bishop Hermann Glettler of Austria gave permission for an artist to install a salvaged corpus from a crucifix that serves as a clock within the sanctuary of the historic Spitalskirche in downtown Innsbruck [Austria].

From the hands of artist Manfred Erjautz, 53, and dubbed “Your Jesus,” the upside-down wooden corpus projects from a mechanism on a shaft that is embedded in the torso. The severed arms of the sculpted icon of the Crucified mark the minutes and seconds on the timepiece…

A professed fan of modern art and supporter of religious art, Bishop Glettler is allowing similar artwork to be put in place in churches throughout his diocese…The repurposed image of the Redeemer was praised by Bishop Glettler, who counts Erjautz as a friend…

This is an absolute outrage! Not only is it blasphemy to use a sacred object in this manner (duh!), but an upside down corpus is a satanic symbol. This bishop should be laicized. (He's a Francis-bishop, of course.)

My great grandparents immigrated from a town just 20 miles away. I can't even begin to imagine what their reaction would be. I'm still in shock after seeing it yesterday.

Dubbed, “YOUR Jesus.” As in “not mine.” As in a satanic taunt.

Am I wrong to immediately suspect that they’re both fags?

Words and phrases that come to mind: Blasphemous, sacrilegious, undiplomatic, indiscreet to the point of being rude.

If the Bishop likes this art so much, then have it installed in his own home or rectory. It’s not necessary to subject the parish to his whims of unusual ‘art’. Don’t force feed your personal views to everyone else.

Not in some smart-ass avant-garde museum. In the church. Unbelievable.

A Bishop who lies this art so much, has no business being a Bishop. Keeping this blasphemous and sacrilegious dreck private doesn't change that it is blasphemous and sacrilegious.

Hey Bishop Hermann Glettler. Get your artist to make a clock like that only with Muhammad and see how long it takes to get your church bombed.

Sue the Catholic Church for blasphemy and emotional distress.

The only people who can successfully sue, in today's civil courts, for blasphemy and emotional distress are the godless islamists and homosexuals.
