High Mass (Orthodox Western Rite)

High Mass served according to the Orthodox Western Rite in a parish of the Antochian Orthodox Church. This appears to be the pre-Vatican II Roman Catholic Rite with only a few minor changes in order to render it acceptable for Orthodox Christian worship. The Creed will be recited in its original form sans the Filioque and I believe a slightly reinforced epiclesis was added. But otherwise this is the Tridentine Mass. (English 1hr 5 mins}

For those that prefer the old-school High Mass. I recommend searching for a parish that practices according to The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Priestly_Fraternity_of_Saint_Peter

As is practiced at my parish in Sacramento.

You cannot find a more conservative group of Catholics.

As for me, I cannot tolerate a rock and roll Mass. Or a Social Justice Mass.

I’d rather go to hell.

Find one here...

And enjoy a real mass. Choir, pomp and circumstance.

It’s a real joy.

“Orthodox Western Rite”

And the Eastern Orthodox still whine about “Uniates”. Hypocrites.

Somebody does more than whine, their first church building was destroyed by arson, and I saw their notices of recent security events on their congregation news feed, which I get since I visited a few times and registered to keep up.
Yes, they remind me of my childhood pre-VII Roman high masses. But the Antiochian Orthodox Church Western Rite is an attempt to revive the Patriachate of the West that existed before the Schism of 1054. And it is the commonest landing zone for those of the Benedict Option. The Bishop of Rome aka Pope only recently renounced the title Patriach of the West. Despite Francis being cosy with Kyrill, I think the Oriental Orthodox will regain communion with Constatinople instead of the Roman Church which my Catholic relatives believe is imminent.

That’s the Antiochian or Oriental Orthodox Church. The Eastern Orthodox you mention are *Greek*. Not exactly the same thing.

Actually this Antiochian is Eastern (i.e. Chalcedonian) Orthodox. I would note however that we do not have any uniate churches. There are no Western Rite bishops or canonical Western Rite local churches. The use of the Western Rite is a concession granted (or not) by the Holy Synod of the local Orthodox Church.

“That’s the Antiochian or Oriental Orthodox Church. The Eastern Orthodox you mention are *Greek*. Not exactly the same thing.”

1) The Antiochian are NOT “Oriental Orthodox”. This is the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, Archdiocese of North America and it belongs to Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch.

2) You’re confusing the Antiochians with the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch - a common mistake.

3) This Church is GREEK. It’s in the name: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_Orthodox_Church_of_Antioch
