I’ve been saying it for years: If John Paul II said the Eastern Churches and Western Church are two lungs a more apt expression may be that the West is the Man and the East is the Woman. Every time there is an argument she brings up stuff from years ago. She never forgets but instead files everything away to bring up whenever it’s convenient. When you point out to her that the East canonized Photius I (formally only in 1847) even though he often had a poor reputation in the West, well, she says that’s not anyone’s business but hers. But if the West wants to canonize a man like Cardinal Stepanic, well, that’s just unbearable.

And constantly bringing up the “Uniates” is like a woman bringing up old girlfriends. Get over it! It was more than 400 years ago and they’re generally happy where they are - as happy as Slavs can get on Earth which isn’t very happy of course because they’re Slavs. But as soon as you bring up Western Rite Orthodoxy, oh, how dare you bring up her recent hook up with some Protestants!

And just like women, this patriarch spars with the Patriarch of Constantinople (which doesn’t really exist) like women fighting over whose original idea it was to have a bake sale to raise money for the new iconostasis.

But if history is anything to tell the future by, she’ll become sweater in her works and start batting her eyes at the Western Church when that mean and threatening Muslim guy starts harassing her to where she becomes really frightened. After all he’s beaten her seriously on several occasions when we were first separated and even imprisoned most of her for several centuries.
