Are any young women entering the convents?
I noticed that too.
I haven’t see a nun wearing a habit in YEARS, likely decades, it’s been so long.
Its a shame really, because tha Habit automatically evokes respect.
The Traditional Catholic apostolates are the only growing novitiates, for both men to the priesthood and women to the religious life as a nun or a sister. Nevertheless, over all, there is historic decline since Vatican II.
Oh that is excellent, thank you for the links
Yes, there are many young women entering the convents. This group is our Discalced Carmelites gals here in Pasadena area. They run a retirement home near here, wonderful women. This is not the entire group pictured.
We have a Nun-Rich environment here in So Cal/ Pasadena & Alhambra areas. There are a cloistered convent, a retreat house, a monastery where nuns live and give workshops/ teach, and a Mother Teresa’s “R&R’ home where women come in from the field to rest. Across town there are a couple of retirement homes they run as well. We see them, ALL in full habits, walking around, in our church which is run by Discalced Carmelite friars.
Some of these groups were founded by Irish priests coming into this ‘mission field;’ some of the groups of nuns came up from Mexico during the persecution in 1920s.
Oh, man, that could've ended in tragedy... Just look at all those hands that aren't out where the cops could see them!
Having gone through the Catholic school system I can attest to the authority of a Nun in her habit. That is a person for whom there is no appeal, if Sister said you did it, then you did it. I also never saw a Nun strike a student because I never saw a Nun that needed to strike a student.
The local police are our Front Line in the war against evil doers.
The pictures are just adorable! Cops so tickled, and the sisters having a great time in unexpected circumstances!
