'Bible Quotes and Scientific Facts, Part 2
1988 | Sam Gipp

Posted on 03/23/2018 12:43:24 PM PDT by Pilgrim's Progress

This is a continuation of the thread where we looked at common English says that were found in the King James Bible.

https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/religion/3638962/posts?q=1&;page=1

Now we will look at scientific facts from the Authorized version . . .

Would to God that people that are not fans of the Bible for the English-speaking people be convinced that it is much more than a mere Bible version - but the Book that God has used for 400 years to the saving of countless souls for Christ.

All right, I want you to go to Job 25 . . .

We are going to leave Bible quotes and we are going to look at some scientific facts that your Bible had long before science discovered them.

Discover is a wonderful word. Whenever science discovers something that the Bible already for centuries before them, sometimes four or five hundred years before science discovered it, science pops up with it like they thought it was the greatest thing. I heard recently where they ‘discovered’ a whole new dinosaur. Can you believe that?

I mean, if those things are real, do you think that after all these years somebody just now found one? And you know how they found it? They got it’s head.

I remember years ago, and I thought this guy was in the wrong business . . . but years ago, in a national newspaper . . . it had an artist’s drawing of this dinosaur – and this was another ‘new’ dinosaur – this was about ten years ago. And they had the drawing of it, they had the height of it, how many spines it had on it’s back, how long it’s tail was, the size of it’s head. You know what they found of that dinosaur?

They found it’s footprint.

Now, finding a footprint they knew how many spines it had on it’s back, how long it’s tail was and the size of it’s head. This dude shouldn’t be working for science – he should be working for the police department. Imagine finding a footprint outside a window – this guy is six-foot tall, he’s blond, blue eyes . . . he walks with a limp, he’s got a tattoo on his left arm that says, ‘Mom!’

‘How’d you know?’ ‘Well, I found his footprint! I’ll draw his picture for you because I found his footprint.’

You can find a footprint of a ‘dinosaur’ and you know how tall it is, how long it’s tail is, how big it’s head is, how many spines it has on it’s back. From a footprint? That’s science all right!

“axiom 1 = without time, events do not occur”

IMO, you got the causality reversed in that axiom.

Actually that is one half of the phrase . . . that’s science ‘fiction.’

So science goes around discovering things that the Bible has said for years.

The oldest Book of the Bible is the Book of Job. And you will find some scientific facts in your Bible that were there long before science found out about them.

Job 25:5 says, “Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not . . .”.

Now everyone knows that the moon shines . . . Job says the moon doesn’t shine. You know what the moon doesn’t do? The moon doesn’t shine.

The moon reflects.

The sun shines, okay? You have lights in your house? Those lights are shining – they are sending light out. The sun sends light out, the sun shines – the moon does not shine, the moon reflects. The moon does nothing more than bounce the light that the sun shines off of it back down to this earth.

You are entitled to your opinion. God CREATED time so events could occur.

I always thought the Hesperopithecus was one of the weirdest "discoveries" that turned out to be a bust.

The moon does not shine. And don’t you think that the scientist, when he read the Book of Job, don’t you think they got a laugh out of that? I bet they got a laugh out of the second half of the verse, too.

“. . . yea, the stars are not pure in his sight.”

If you want to purify something, if you want to clean it, if you want to get the germs off of it, what do you do? Put it in fire, right? If you need to operate on someone, you put their utensils in heat – that heat, that intense heat, that fire purges it, does it not? Even the Bible in I Corinthians 3 talks about how our rewards are going to be purged in fire, does it not? Because fire purifies. Now, what is a star? A star is nothing but fire, right? Now it is kind of stupid to say that they not pure – how can you have anything impure when the whole thing is fire?

There are cold spots in the temperature on the surface of the sun. Some of those spots are big enough to put about five earths side-by-side right down in the hole of the sun. That is what science calls an ‘imperfection’ in our sun and they come in eleven-year cycles. And they effect our radio waves – that is what they tell me. But you know what’s funny about that? I don’t think Job ever saw this.

I don’t think whoever wrote this Book of Job ever saw sunspots. Do you think they did? Do you think they got out their telescope and got up on Mount Palomar and looked up at the sun and said, ‘Oh look! The sun is a star, and there are spots on it – so it is not pure – so all the other stars are impure.

You know what that tells me? What happens when you look at the sun? You go blind, right? God can look right at it. And He said, the stars are not pure – in His sight. He looks right at the sun. You know why? The whole thing, compared to His glory, probably looks like a dark spot to Him. I mean, in the reflection of His glory – His light – the sun probably looks like a dark spot. And the Bible says that the stars are not pure in His sight. God knew the stars were not pure, He knew that, and so did the writer of Job.

And science didn’t know it until they discovered it.
