Angelo Becciu Comments on Criticism of Pope: He is Calm, but the Words Still Hurt

As time goes by and reforms advance, criticisms of the pope also increase.

Pope Francis is still favorably viewed, even though some harshly criticize his measures.

MSGR. ANGELO BECCIU Substitute, Vatican Secretariat of State "He is calm. To confront this, he uses the Jesuit spirit and the third degree of asceticism: that of being indifferent to some things. But he is a human being, so he also suffers. Some critics, besides being gratuitous, reach the core of one's being. Like him betraying Church doctrine... this is not true. He does not accept this and it is the most serious accusation that one can receive."

Angelo Becciu is number three in the Vatican. During a presentation of a book on St. Francis, he also revealed the simplicity with which the pope celebrated the fifth anniversary of his election.

The guy seems to want to be another untouchable global ruler like the Dali Lama. Does he really think believers will withhold criticism of his worldly ambitions?

Of course he doesn't; he doesn't even accept a dubia from his orthodox cardianls. Nor does he respond to a filial correction from orthodox Catholics.

He's a dictator pope, in the South American fashion.

Truth hurts, dearest Pope. Some of those ‘hurtful words’ are meant to pierce your heart and call you to change. I wouldn’t be indifferent to those, lest it be the Lord.

"Like him betraying Church doctrine... this is not true. He does not accept this and it is the most serious accusation that one can receive."

This has an air of absurdity. The four "dubia" cardinals very politely and reasonably asked him to explain just what the doctrines are, and going on two years now he has refused to answer them.

Just answer them. Tell them, and us, just how the traditional moral doctrine of the Church has changed, or has not changed and will not change. Just answer. The cardinals laid it all out in inescapably plain language.

Each of their 5 questions can be answered with a Yes or a No.

If you won't even iron out the ambiguities and tell us what the doctrine is, how the #$^%$^$ can you demand or expect people to say "Oh, it's all good, whatever he means, yes or no, black or white, we're sure it's all for the best!"

"He is calm. To confront this, he uses the Jesuit spirit and the third degree of asceticism: that of being indifferent to some things. How about turning to God, the Church, and the Sacraments.

I suspect he probably needs daily confession at this point. The worst thing he can do is follow the current order of Jesuits. St. Ignatius they are not.

“But he is a human being, so he also suffers.”

I don’t believe that for a second.

No I don't. Look up "orthodox"; there's a difference.
