Bump for reading later. What a subject! It’s the first time I have seen it addressed.

“MOST OF THE WORLD’S GREAT SOULS have been lonely. Loneliness seems to be one price the saint must pay for his saintliness.”

THIS is the reason that they achieved their increased connection with God. It’s the concept of dying daily. Letting go of the attachment with other people and their values and focusing on God’s Love is a great thing.

It’s also the reason that great leaders such as Lincoln, Churchill, Ghandi, and many others experienced great periods of depression.

I have been lonely beyond words while still in the midst of many caring friends. Having died, gone to Heaven and returned to my body, my loneliness is my desire to be back fully in God’s Love. No words can describe the emptiness of tasting the treasure and losing it.

99% of people are working out a problem from their childhood, a situation where they did not get enough attention or love or physical embraces.

The advanced Christian is beyond that. getting all the love he needs from Jesus. So he is able to love his friends and acquaintances unselfishly, and that leaves them with nothing to work out their neurosis on. He doesn’t need to be conquered; he already loves you. Time to move on to the next challenging person and continue the endless struggle.

Result: Loneliness for the Christian.

This plays out most obviously in romantic relationships, but it functions in friendships, family relationships, and more superficial situations as well.
