At the 1025th anniversary of the conversion of Russia, top leaders in the Orthodox Church requested that Russia save the persecuted Christians in Syria.

President Putin quickly answered their request. In the following clip (with transcript below) Patriarch Kirill discusses how these events unfolded and his personal trip to Syria.

His Holiness:

"Already in 2014, it was clear that conflicts on the territory of Syria were being incited by radical forces which, if they came to power, would begin by liquidating the Christian presence in this country. That is precisely why the Christians actively supported Assad and his government, - because in the country a certain balance of forces was secured and that is very important. People felt they were being protected. In 2014, notwithstanding warnings about the danger, I nonetheless decided to travel to Syria.

I was in Damascus and led a church service there, and I saw what enthusiasm there was among the people. In conversations both with Muslims and with Christians, meeting with politicians, I understood that if the Islamic radicals come to power in Syria, the first ones who would suffer would be the Christians. As already happened in Iraq, where 85% of the Christians were either killed or driven out of the country. I visited Iraq still under the regime of Hussein, including in the northern regions, in Mosul. I visited the ancient Christian monasteries.

I saw the piety of the people and was overjoyed that in Muslim surroundings the Christian churches existed in peace. Now practically.......

Putin didn’t save any Christians in Syria. He only saved Assad.

Putin came in as a white knight but the jury is still out and the issue still in play.

North Korea also supplies Assad with chemical weapon items as its own antichrist regime relies on support from Russia and China to stay afloat. Add Iran to that axis.

You can pray and ask God wisdom about it in your prayers for Putin and all those in leadership - instead of taking Russian State propaganda at face value. Undiscerning at best, blasphemous at worst.

Its one thing to post about these things in a political context, but hailing these lies and garbage headlines as if they’re glad tidings from the kingdom of Heaven is disgraceful.

God will work through and accomplish His purposes through evil men like Putin. But to suggest he is some hero of the faith is abominable. And Assad and ISIS are both evil.

I personally know dozens of Christians who the Syrian govt is protecting in Syria. In fact, he is saving millions of minorities who would be slaughtered if McCain’s people took over.

I know Armenian Christian immigrants here who see Assad as a necessary evil and I know others who call B.S. and just think its a mess all around.

Fact is: Assad can say he is “saving Christians” now and them tomorrow threatens Israel jointly with Iran.

Here is the anti-Semitic rant posted by a writer from Russia Insider. The source touted above. He says only Jewish people are anti-Putin.

LIE. I am Christian. I am NOT a “Neo-Con.” And I have lived in Russia.

The Russian Orthodox Church has been completely undermined: grossly politicized, and militarized as a tool of the Russian State in the most grievous of ways...it’s infuriating.

And Russian mercenaries are paying with their lives: they have very few employment prospects and yet when their bodies are returned they get none of the funereal dignities of military soldiers and barely any acknowledgment from the Kremlin who tries to hide the fact they’re there.

And if McCain is “Neo-Con” then Assad is “Neo-Nazi” as are his allies like Hezbollah. Is the latter label the one you guys prefer?

Well you have good company! “German Christian neo-Nazi party builds alliance with Assad and Hezbollah”

Trump is no idiot. He is not going to repeat past US mistakes but he increasingly understands the danger a solidified Syria-Iran presence bolstered by Russia, abetted by North Korea — poses to our interests and to Israel.

Typo: "Christian" they are not.

German Neo-Nazi Party Builds Alliance with Assad and Hezbollah

Stronger alliances are growing between the German neo-Nazi party Der Dritte Weg and the Assad regime, as well as the Syrian dictator’s strategic partner Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The group, whose goal is the creation of “German socialism,” titled its plan “What every person can do against the Zionist genocide."

From 1933-1945, Arab nationalists worked together with Hitler’s Third Reich up until the preparation of the Holocaust,” added Wolffsohn.

“Persecute evangelicals.”

Count also persecuting Ukrainian Orthodox or any Russian Orthodox member/figure who voices displeasure with Kremlin or Moscow patriarchate.

Putin saved Assad — Assad protects Christians. no Assad means death to all Christians in Syria.

Assad is nowhere near as evil as the Islamic State. Assad has protected Christians and under his rule Syria was a secular state where Orthodox, Catholics, Oriental and Protestant Christians lived in peace with Sunnis, Shias and with Alawites, Yazidis etc.

Putin and Russia has definitely done a lot more to help Christians in the Middle East than anything the USA has done since 2003.

Exactly

I have a friend who works at what used to be called Blackwater doing security detail in that theatre

He insists Assad and by extension Putin have helped more displaced and attacked Christians than we have

It disgusts him

In fact the US moves in the Middle East since 1991 have brought the Christian genocide.

Bush senior should not have allowed himself to be suckered by the Saudis to help them against Saddam

If Saddy wasn't attacked by the USA then:

Stay out, just take the oil, drill in ANWAR and let the sunnisandshias kick each other
