From Wikipedia’s “El Shaddai” entry:
‘According to Ernst Knauf, “El Shaddai” means “God of the Wilderness” and originally would not have had a doubled “d”.’
So, if it did mean, ‘god with breasts,’ they’re not THAT big.

Why can’t these people hear how moronic they sound? Back in my day, a person had to think about what they said because someone may pop them in the nose if it was particularly offensive. You couldn’t get a job if you were too weird. You certainly couldn’t be clergy thinking like this. They may need an exorcism.

The pronouns in the Greek and Hebrew Bible are masculine. God has no sex, and so gendered pronouns do not apply to God. but we are humans, and use gendered pronouns. The writers of the Bible used gendered pronouns, and so do we.

Thank you for posting this article. I too, have heard that "teaching" and it NEVER sat right with me, even from a "respected" Evangelical source. I tried looking it up myself, and found that the word for breast in Hebrew was indeed shad, which made this "teaching" even more troubling. The furthest I was willing to go with it was that it translated to "The All-Sufficient God", which took into consideration God's Provision. The article you posted shed a lot more light on the origin of the Name.
My argument has always been nearly the same as the author of your article. God is Who He SAYS He Is, and not what one would LIKE Him to be! He has chosen to reveal Himself in His Word as Father, and Jesus chose to become Incarnate as a Boy, born and circumcised under the Jewish Law, in Bethlehem of Judea in the First Century.
If He constantly used male pronouns to refer to Himself in His Word, and in just ONE instance in One Name He has shared, He chooses to describe Himself with a word that rhymes with a Hebrew word for breast...what of it? That's His choice, but it doesn't change Who He is.
PS. The "Evangelical" pastor who taught that wrong thing has since betrayed and destroyed his church with his ambitious narcissism. What is left of the devastated congregation continues to tough it out in a storefront, while he has retired out west somewhere.
The only good thing is that some famous rock stars have a studio in the same strip mall, and sometimes pop in to hear the Gospel. And it's NOT a feminist/liberation/post-modern Gospel either!

Leave any church that does not believe in the Inerrancy(as written by the authors) and the Authority of Scripture for Corruption. Worse is soon to follow for such..

Pretty sure the Holy Spirit is the female aspect of God:
1. It told the prophets what to say.
2. It tells God what you really meant to say.
3. It never stops groaning.
4. It gets fussy and leaves at the least provocation.

I had someone tell me that it meant *Breasted one*.
I thought that was odd, and just kind of blew it off.
