Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
Our LORD, Heavenly Father,
You Are Our Dwelling Place,
And Have been Throughout Generations!
You Are Our Shelter, Our Home.
You Gave Moses a Song in his heart
That revealed to us this Wonderful Descriptive Name.
How we Long For, and Hope for Your Grace and Comfort
During these times of sorrow and distress!
Your Are our Dwelling Place, Our Comfort, Our Shelter, Our Refuge, Our Sanctuary.
No House made with Human Hands can compare.
May the Leaders of Our Own Beloved USA
Receive Wisdom from You
to do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
Standing on the Mount of Olives with about 5000 other like-minded people, we prepared to walk, singing and praising God, to the Western Wall in Jerusalem for that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to write a little prayer on a piece of paper and slip it in between the ancient stones. Down the stony path we went, banners flying, and music filling the air. When we got to the plaza facing the wall, we were addressed by Teddy Kolleck, the Mayor of Jerusalem, Shimon Perez, who was in office at the time, and a Representative from The International Christian Embassy, who urged us to pray that The USA would move its Embassy to Jerusalem, the Capital of Israel. This was the first I had heard about the Embassy being in Tel Aviv instead of the actual capital, and it struck me as being very wrong and unjust. Every other Nation on Planet Earth that had a US Embassy had it in their Capital City. It didn't matter if they were friends or enemies. Israel was our FRIEND, and I could not understand this. It was so insulting.
After the speeches, we all had a chance to go up to the wall. I had lots of prayers in my head, and never had any difficulty knowing what to pray for, so the little piece of paper I had been given was still blank when I approached the wall. Then, suddenly, I wrote a little prayer that the President of the USA (who was Ronald Reagan at the time) would move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. I hastily stuffed the paper into the crack, let my fingers linger on the warm stone for a while, and then got out of the way for the next person in line. Since the men and women were in different lines, I had to find my husband. I asked him what he put in the wall. "It's between me and God", he said.
I will never know if my husband's prayer was answered, but mine was, yesterday, 33 years later.
