In light of the current movement to allow the Kurds in Syria to form their own government, I did a Google search and found this interesting Blog Comment from 2014. It is not my blog nor do I know the author.

I just find his comments very insightful.

Love to hear other thoughts on this.

Isaiah 13:17 — “Behold, I am going to stir up the Medes against them [the Babylonians]….”

Jeremiah 51:11 — “The Lord has aroused the spirit of the kings of the Medes, because His purpose is against Babylon to destroy it; for it is the vengeance of the Lord….”

Jeremiah 51:28-29 — “Consecrate the nations against her, the kings of the Medes, their governors and all their prefects, and every land of their dominion. So the land quakes and writhes, for the purposes of the Lord against Babylon stand, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without inhabitants….”

I have read a few of Mr. Rosenberg's books and I think he is a pretty serious scholar that has pretty good discernment. You might not agree with his assessment, but he has integrity and a very good understanding of both geopolitics and Biblical interpretation.

The Medes were in NW Iran, but also more in what is now Azerbaijan and Dagestan, which is about where the map label “Russia” is. I don’t know what ethnic ties there might be, but I understand Kurds to be rather similar to Germans.

Interesting. For many years, my next door neighbor was a Berber Muslim originally from Morocco although he had a strong French accent and looked like Jean-Paul Belmondo! He absolutely loathed Arab Muslims and said they were the cause of all the problems.

According to Wikipedia,
The Kurds are a people of Indo-European origin. They speak an Iranian language known as Kurdish, and comprise the majority of the population of the region – however, included therein are Arab, Armenian, Assyrian/Aramean/Syriac, Azerbaijani, Jewish, Ossetian, Persian, and Turkish communities. Most inhabitants are Muslim, but adherents to other religions are present as well – including Yarsanism, which is an ethnically Kurdish religion, Yazidis, Alevis, Christians, and in the past, Jews, most of whom immigrated to Israel.
