Boasting always violates love because it seeks to exalt itself at the expense of others—to make itself look good while making others look inferior. It incites jealousy and other sins.

These sorts of teachings fail to take into account the perception of those who define the "boasting".

For example, a person with degraded personal ethics may see his motivated co-worker as a show-off and a braggart, merely for having the simple-hearted eagerness to do his job to the best of his ability. The guy with the positive attitude and high standards makes himself look good while making others look inferior, merely by showing up.

That type of attitude incites jealousy and other sins, because the rot is exposed, and it's not in the guy about whom most are grousing.

Joseph, "that dreamer". An infuriating fellow. "We shall see what will become of his dreams."

Yes indeed, twenty two years later after the *righteous* Joseph worked an ingenious scheme to bring everybody back together again.

Joseph, not the rotten little braggart they all thought he was. Joseph was the one filled with brotherly love, and much patience.

The last he had seen of his brothers, they had left him for dead.
