Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Today's passage brings me back to the story about the Swedish Store with the crazy directions. My little sister bought what looked like a very nice TV Table for a wide-screen flat TV. Of course, there were directions, not in English or Swedish, but in incomprehensible cartoon glyphs that looked like some kind of Viking Rune crossed with Japanese Anime. After many hours of frustration, Sis piled the still-assmbled monstrosity into her car and returned it AS IS, because there was no possible way of DISASSEMBLING it once it had been MIS-Assembled according to the runes. (Or should I say "RUINS"). The Tabernacle, on the other hand, had to be assembled, disassembled, carried across a harsh desert, and reassembled multiple times over a period of 40 YEARS.

We have already met the Master Builders Bezalel and Oholiab. We were informed of their native talent, their "on-the-job" training (as slaves) in the various arts, crafts, and skills of Egypt. We ascertained that, because of the Plunder of Egypt, they would have no problem obtaining the raw materials for this project. We also considered the incredible achievements of which men are capable, when they work together with a focus and cause that is important to them (like the Manhattan Project).

This little hidden verse in the Torah tells us even more. God sends His Holy Spirit to fill these men with wisdom. The Holy Spirit gives them the ability to teach and train others, and to convey the very precise Patterns, Recipes, Plans, and Dimensions for the Tabernacle.

This Infilling of the Holy Spirit will remain a constant throughout Scripture, both Old and New Testaments. Whether it was to build an Ark to save the Animals (Genesis 6) or an Ark to contain the Power of the Almighty, His Law, His Provision, and His Authority, The Holy Spirit is there to teach, Guide, and Inspire. Deacon Stephen (Acts 8) started out waiting tables in a "Widow's Food Pantry" Ministry, and ends up giving an impassioned Spirit-Inspired defense to the greatest Scholars of his time, and is revered to this day as the First Christian Martyr. All through Scripture, we read of ordinary men and women who, filled with the Spirit of God, confound the brilliant minds of the time.

Deacon Stephen (Acts 8) started out waiting tables in a "Widow's Food Pantry" Ministry, and ends up giving an impassioned Spirit-Inspired defense to the greatest Scholars of his time, and is revered to this day as the First Christian Martyr.

"Widow's Food Pantry" Ministry - you have a way with words! It's a simple, real-world description.

You make an excellent point about all the blueprints, directions, and information, and the people who are willing and ready and eager to pay close attention to them (not talking about those horrid crypto-glyph instructions created by man, but the real deal). The TV table directions were thoughtless, and therefore worse than useless.

Recently I had spent some time reading through Stephen's speech, because of the apparent discrepancy in the 75 souls (the Torah plainly says 70, although the total is only 69, so there's that) and the location and seller of the burial plot. Shechem? Hamor? He couldn't have been serious..

It's one of those passages that detractors jump all over to say that the NT is a complete joke, full of lies. I mean how obvious are the multiple errors in there.

The point is, Stephen... ends up giving an impassioned Spirit-Inspired defense to the greatest Scholars of his time...

And they didn't catch any of that? Not a word mentioned. I mean there's a real accusation right there, that the man was a revisionist who was brazenly lying about history, Torah.

They must not have been listening to a word he said. Justice Ginsbergs, all.

Now I am certain that he spoke the truth on a different level, e.g.

Add five for the souls already in the cave before Jacob went down to Egypt: Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebecca, Leah.
The location is Joseph's tomb, on whom the entire nation is founded (the Tzaddik is the foundation of the world), so where else would they be resting, spiritually.

Whatever Stephen was saying, it was sailing right over their heads in more ways than one.

Acts 7

12 But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first.
13 And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph's kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.
14 Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.

16 And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.

You know how it is when a speaker picks up that his listener has tuned out. He could be giving out some important cooking instructions, and then throw in, "and make sure that you toss the peppers with the bag of potting mix and also stir in a jar of coffee beans..."

Anyway,

Stephen goes on for a while, but no reaction is noted until the supposed justices perceive that they are being talked about (human nature, isn't it):

Acts 7

51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.
54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

All through Scripture, we read of ordinary men and women who, filled with the Spirit of God, confound the brilliant minds of the time.

Pretty much just by showing up on time and paying attention.

As a music teacher, I often slip in some weird thing to see if my student is actually LISTENING! LOL!

Notice the Scripture says 75 “Souls”. That would validate your theory that when the family went west to Egypt, they brought the “souls” of the Patriarchs with them.

The members of the oldest of our Christian Communities, some of which date from the days of the Apostles, suffer under cruel, merciless and unrelenting persecution. They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."

It’s funny, even though the trial was anything but funny. A kangaroo court.

How much stuff is in there with simple real-life explanations that a little kid could relate to (say, being caught not listening), but the scholarly minds go to extreme lengths to massage texts, intellectually making them work and impressing the audience, readers.

When I first typed in Ginsberg I went to check the spelling (Ginsburg), but then forgot to correct it. Oops, did you catch that? LOL, it was not on purpose!

The differing numbers in the census counts between Ezra and Nehemiah are other “proofs” that the Bible is unreliable. Why such obvious “mis counting”?

Well maybe someone died, or was born. One day it’s one number, the next day it’s one more (or less). Or if people are counted by such and such age, somebody had a birthday...

If the accusers spent a just a few seconds in thought on something like that, they would have to reserve judgment and judge thoughtfully, righteously. But if their minds are already made up, they can take a nap!

Nobody could sleep on the job in the building of the Tabernacle, Ark, Temple. They’d be caught goofing up the details. Kind of a built-in method to purge the slackers, because it would be obvious whose hearts and minds were not into the project.

In some of the Biblical Census accounts, only men of military age are counted. Other times all men are counted. Then sometimes all the “Souls” are counted, so i wouldn’t get too caught up in those numbers.

We pray for President Trump’s unwavering support of Israel. Those who surround him that do not share his pledge of support need to be removed from their positions immediately and replaced with God-fearing men and women. Unfortunately, several of the “wrong” people have been placed in President Trump’s administration since the election. God already knows those who need to surround Trump with Wisdom and Direction from God. Anything else will lead to disaster.

It’s simply what you said, that there are multiple options to consider, if anyone spends a few moments time thinking about it.

Knowing and trusting that there are logical (and often very obvious) reasons for any “error” is what should inspire people to study and learn more. It can take adults forever to see the simple meanings that children would get.

People can perform tasks and rituals day in and day out, without any love or desire included in the process. But if the command *is* to love, then there’s no way to do that, unless it’s out of love.

How many times are people hired to do work, but do a poor job with the attitude that hey, the customer will point it out if it’s a problem? It’s how they can justify a bad work ethic. They expect clients to babysit and enforce standards.

Those folks won’t be hired to build the Temple. :)
