Italian Philosopher Sharply Criticizes Pope Francis

The Italian philosopher and politician Marcello Pera criticised today Pope Francis in an interview with the newspaper Il Mattino. Pera is an atheist who co-authored a book with Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger.

About Francis' plea for an unlimited acceptance of migrants Pera says, "I don't understand this Pope, what he is saying is beyond any rational comprehension." And, "Why does he insist on a total acceptance? The Pope does so because he hates the Occident, he aims at destroying it and does everything to achieve this goal."

For Pera, Francis' magisterium is "not Gospel but only politics." He adds, "Francis is little or not at all interested in Christianity as a doctrine, in its theological aspect." He considers Francis statements as "strongly secularist."

Pera says, that Francis is not interested in the salvation of souls but in security and social welfare. But "when one goes into the details, he suggests to our states to commit suicide, he invites Europe to no longer be itself, he reflects all South American prejudices toward North America, the market, freedom or capitalism".

For Pera "a hidden schism" is going on in the Catholic world. Francis pursues it "with obstinacy and determination."

I find this odd. This man is an atheist. Why would he care whether Francis is interested in the salvation of souls?

I agree. I pray for the conversion of all the non-Catholics in the putative hierarchy every day.

Perhaps doing so is considered “very pious” and if you read Arthur’s post he makes it clear that he believes the very pious are fooled along with ignorant.

Faithful Catholics only do what he does: pray for his resignation or his death.

It's actually AA-1025 and it is a very interesting book to read. Short and sweet.

I did not say that the “very pious” are fooled. I.e., that they are very pious precisely because they have been fooled.

I said that those who are very pious and ignorant are among those Bergoglio can fool.

When Bergoglio drives real Catholics out of the church—with something intolerable—some very pious but ignorant people will stay simply because he’s the Pope.

Because even an atheist can see when a Pope has no faith. And is therefore a psychopath.

OK, fair enough; however, I would change the above to "people will stay simply because they mistakenly think he's the pope".

It would make sense that an idealist narcissistic idiot would aspire to be a priest to help the “poor” and make a good image of himself at their expense. By and by communists and other actors would pick such weak person and give them a rise.

It is impossible to know at this point whether he is or is not Pope. Either the Cardinals or the next Pope will have the competence to make that determination.

I disagree. It needs to be formally declared at some point, but it is not "impossible" to know until that happens.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema.

It is clear as a bell that this man is NOT CATHOLIC. My sensus catholicus and my common sense lead me to the Catholic and logical conclusion that a non-Catholic can not possibly be the visible head of the Catholic Church.
