Cardinal Sarah: Priests ‘Demean’ Gay People by not Calling Them to Chastity

The cardinal said that omitting Jesus's 'hard sayings' is not charitable

Cardinal Robert Sarah has said that gay people are called to chastity, and that “we demean them if we think they cannot attain this virtue.”

Describing chastity as “a virtue for all disciples”, the Vatican liturgy chief argued that clergy deprive gay people of the fullness of the Gospel if they do not call them to live chastely.

In a foreword to the book Why I Don’t Call Myself Gay by Daniel Mattson, the cardinal writes: “To omit the “hard sayings” of Christ and His Church is not charity. Indeed, it is a disservice to the Lord and to those created in His image and likeness and redeemed by the Precious Blood.

“We cannot be more compassionate or merciful than Jesus, who told the woman caught in adultery two equally important messages: “Neither do I condemn you; go, and do not sin again” (Jn 8:11).”

This guy has got to be the next Pope. Had no idea he was African and clearly judged him on the character of his writings posted here.

Cardinal Sarah is a marvel in this era, and rare. So is good Cardinal Burke, who has been demoted to nothing, but called to Malta with no influence and will doubtless be ejected from the upcoming Marxist tactical synod.

Sarah will surely be silenced soon, himself.

I have been following Sarah for some time. He should have been pope instead of Bergolio, but is now in his early 70s and may be too old. I think his sincere and conservative profession of Catholicism is precisely because of his African origins where the faith undergoes very real threats of violence and must be vigorously defended.

Interesting trivia point: He was ordained a priest on 7/20/69, the date of the first moon landing :-)
