The bright blue cupolas atop SS. Cyril & Methodius Orthodox Church are an unmistakable landmark in Jeannette symbols of a parish once home to more than 50 Russian families.
In Monessen, families used to fill folding chairs beside packed church pews during Sunday services at St. Michael Antiochian Orthodox Church.
Not so today. Not at St. Michael, not at SS. Cyril & Methodius and not at many other Orthodox churches in southwestern Pennsylvania.

Orthodoxy long avoided much of the apostasy that drained many other churches over the past 50 years, but now the culture is catching up with them or - should I say - dragging them down.
I think it’s less the culture catching up than the realities of a modern and highly mobile society. The northeast used to be where all the immigrant communities settled and built their churches. But now the grandchildren and great-grandchildren are all moving on. So yeah a lot of the old parishes are hurting, but new ones are popping up in areas not usually associated with Orthodox Christianity.

Never underestimate the impact of Artificial Birth Control.
Am a traditional Catholic but am thinking of attending an Orthodox service here when the TLM is not available (no plans to receive Holy Communion). Do I have to ask Franky’s permission first? /

When I retired in 2010 I moved away from D.C. where several parishes continued to celebrate the Tridentine Latin Mass. Now, the closest church where it is offered is a hundred miles away in Pittsburgh. I do not attend the Novus Ordo Mass, but would happily attend a Greek or Russian Orthodox liturgy if one were anywhere nearby.

Personally, I wouldn’t ask Franky to walk my dog!
get real...you might not like the changes (I don't) but they are here to stay for a while at least....don't put your soul in jeopardy because you don't like the ceremony.......
Actually: Those who unquestioningly and credulously accept the changes and innovations of the last 50 years are those whose souls are in danger.
One other option (in some places) is Eastern Rite Catholicism. The clergy tend to be very traditional, and the congregations include many people who left their “normal” Catholic parishes because of what they saw to be doctrinal and moral apostasy.

Well thank you for the advice, but I don’t believe I’m putting my soul in jeopardy by my refusal to attend the Novus Ordo Mass.
Wait' you actually believe you put your soul in jeopardy if you recite or say the wrong thing or don't attend the "right" ceremony.
Wow...
The Church (any) doesn't save you, the blood of Christ does.
Truly he is Risen!
