We have a small crew of uniformed off duty cops for traffic and exterior security, and a somewhat larger group of plain clothed off duty cops inside. It being Texas, I’m quite sure some of the members carry, as well.
Just that having security makes sense — off duty officers/deputies, or even armed congregants... but a police force that can arrest that is responsible to the Session (presumably) doesn’t seem right.
Better if the security is responsible to the government.

That’s the way to do it.

I would bet that the overwhelming majority of Mosques and “Islamic centers” in America are already weapons depots.
Thanks for your explaination. I’ve never really thought
about it so was curious as to your thoughts.
My first thought as well.
If the stories about his involvement with the death of Malcolm X are to be believed then "police force" is quite a euphemism.
“Im quite sure some of the members carry, as well.”
There’s a women’s once a week morning Bible study at a local church here. During one of the meetings the topic of concealed carry came up, and the pastor asked how many of the women had permits. More than half of them pulled small pistols of various flavors out of their purses like some kind of show and tell session. Just a standard item they carried in their purse. There was quite a bit of laughter, so I was told.
With the attacks going on in Muslim controled countries against Christians, this is not surprising.
LOL - God bless them! They are protecting themselves and those around them. Thank the Lord that we have this freedom in the USA.
Security? No problem. Private church police? No.
And under these kinds of laws would not that arsenal be legal?
What if the mosque down the road wants to establish their own police force? How can you stop them?
Most large ones have had them for years.
I think you make a good point.
I’ve read several articles about this issue and am not really sure what the issue is.
After hours vandalism? Hire a private security agency.
No problem; it seemed odd to me — not to have security, but I’d rather the congregation be responsible instead of having another layer of “outside” government that is overlaid on church government. Something about that combination just made me cringe a little.
:D

“then “police force” is quite a euphemism.”
I was thinking, “terror cell,” but had a senior moment.

I know nothing per se about the church or it’s location. But a quick look on the net indicates
it has a large operation to include a school system with some 1,900 students. So I guess it’s
either establish your own system or employee part time help from other agencies.
Take care.
