Francis has accepted an invitation to Cairo on April 28-29 from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Catholic bishops, the pope of the Coptic church of Alexandria and the country’s highest Islamic authority, Al-Azhar, the Vatican said in a statement.

Christians, mostly Orthodox Copts, account for about 10 percent of Egypt’s population, which is overwhelmingly Sunni Muslim. Sectarian violence sometimes erupts over disputes on issues related to church building, religious conversions and interfaith relationships. …

Maybe they’ll let him pray a Christian prayer in the nation’s biggest Mosque?

I kid, “ties” only goes one way with Islam....

The only thing Muslims will accept is if the Pope makes a clear act of submission.

And this Pope wouldn’t do that. Would he?

No, he will just say that we all worship the same God, and that it is a sin to evangelize.

He doesn’t like the tedium of doctrine or theology.

Sectarian violence sometimes erupts over disputes on issues related to church building, religious conversions and interfaith relationships.

Really, Rrhoiders? Christians react violently to religious conversions and interfaith relationships? Also, I notice you cite church buildings as a catalyst for violence but not mosque buildings.

Why?

The only thing the Muslims want is the Pope dead and the Church gone.

Muslims will make no concessions they intend to keep.

They will do as Dems do to Repubs;
They’ll take whatever you’re willing to give up and do nothing in return.

Negotiating half measures is of no help.

See my tagline.

The Pope’s security had better be up to the trip, there are many Muslims that would like to do him harm.

Why would the Egyptians want anything to happen to the Argentinian? The real Pope might come back.

If Frankie the idiot pope thinks this will make moslems friendlier toward the rest of the world he is utterly delusional. He should read the koran and take it to heart.

“improve Catholic-Muslim ties”

To a sane person, that means that muzzies have to stop raping, killing, burning and destroying.
To a leftist, that means that the pope has to bow down and beg forgiveness for the Crusades. (he has already done it).

Fits right in with the Catechism of the Catholic church.

http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/__P29.HTM

841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."330

Fr. Z is correct. The next Catholic Pope should focus like a laser on purging the episcopacy of heretics. He should never leave the Vatican. There should be persistent rumors that he has died.

We’re Christians to (cradle Catholic here). They’d kill us in a heart beat. Old baggage from the Crusades, they can’t move on like the rest of civilized society.
