ROME, January 3, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) 2016 marked a dramatic turning point in the pontificate of Pope Francis. It may be called the year of the great awakening, as more and more faithful Catholics and prelates, Cardinals included, came to a frightening understanding that there is a major problem with the current Pope.
For the beginning years of his papacy, most, including LifeSite, gave Francis the benefit of the doubt. They repeatedly told themselves and others not to believe the media; that his words were being taken out of context or mistranslated; that he was just plain poor at doing interviews; that he wasnt often aware of the consequences of his words; that he wanted to be pastoral and thus overstated things at times; and that off-the-cuff interviews are not official expressions of the Churchs teaching authority.
Many of these hopes were pinned on the outcome of the two controversial Synods on the Family. It was hoped that the final document by the Pope would finally set things straight after he had allowed many bishops to express themselves freely, even in ways contrary to Christs own words. In the end, they thought, it would be as it was with Pope Paul VI who, after two years of deliberation and being intensely urged by numerous close advisors to alter the Churchs constant teaching against contraception, nevertheless proclaimed Humanae Vitae and confirmed perennial, authentic Catholic teaching.
However, with Amoris Laetitia it has not been so. The confusion has been allowed to fester and only increase as Pope Francis himself has made known his personal views on the grave matters under consideration.

I’ve ex-communicated myself from the Roman Catholic Church because of this pope. The other side of my family is Greek Orthodox so not a huge leap, I now consider myself Orthodox Christian/Catholic.
Its terrifying and he acts like a leftist dictator, with the Germans and a few others acting like his Politburo. Personally, I think he’s more than a little bit crazy.
What I think the initial effect will be is that traditional Catholics will see their interests become marginalized by their Bishops. This will be apparent in dioceses where the bishop is progressive, like Chicago.
Orthodox bishops could resist this, and their dioceses may wind up being a sanctuary of sorts for traditional Catholics.
I'm Catholic and can tell you that the despise for Francis among traditionalists and "conservatives" (whatever that is now) is near universal.
Francis the wrecker/impostor is an anti-pope leftist POS thug.
When he dies, we should dig his ass up, try his miserable cadaver, burn his remains and throw them in the Tiber - like we did to Fromosus
At first it seemed he was just nieve- perhaps perochial South American. Not palatable, but the Spirit moves the Church as It will.
The article is correct in that the last year has removed any such innocent analysis. Humor is difficult to muster in all of this - I just resort to prayer now.
Speaking as a Catholic. I agree.
Speaking as a non-Catholic here, what I seem to be seeing is that the new Pope is trying to suppress dissent from the direction he is trying to move the Roman Catholic Church; as church leaderships frequently do. The thing is, those he is trying to marginalize are those who are devout Christians, and who believe the past teachings of the RCC. Denominations have attempted to suppress the devout before; I can’t think of a time when it ended well. I would welcome the thoughts of any Catholics on this thread; am I actually seeing what I think I’m seeing?
This too will pass.
We are seeing a Pope a movement of nations in the west go in the direction of center/right and he is frightened by it.
“Francis the wrecker/impostor is an anti-pope leftist POS thug.”
That’s pretty much what it looks like watching from the Protestant sidelines. He’s about as far from John Paul II as you could get.
The evil globalists needed a Pope to match their NWO agenda so they installed themselves one and couldn’t be bothered to wait for Pope Benedict to pass away.
You will always be a Catholic because your Catholic Baptism is marked on your soul forever.
The Pope asked Cardinal Muller, chief of the Congregation For The Doctrine Of The Faith, to force 3 orthodox theologians out of his office and it’s been done.
