Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Book of Psalms

(Psalm 109)

Psalm 109

For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.

1 My God, whom I praise,
    do not remain silent,
2 for people who are wicked and deceitful
    have opened their mouths against me;
    they have spoken against me with lying tongues.
3 With words of hatred they surround me;
    they attack me without cause.
4 In return for my friendship they accuse me,
    but I am a man of prayer.
5 They repay me evil for good,
    and hatred for my friendship.

6 Appoint someone evil to oppose my enemy;
    let an accuser stand at his right hand.
7 When he is tried, let him be found guilty,
    and may his prayers condemn him.
8 May his days be few;
    may another take his place of leadership.
9 May his children be fatherless
    and his wife a widow.
10 May his children be wandering beggars;
    may they be driven[a] from their ruined homes.
11 May a creditor seize all he has;
    may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor.
12 May no one extend kindness to him
    or take pity on his fatherless children.
13 May his descendants be cut off,
    their names blotted out from the next generation.
14 May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord;
    may the sin of his mother never be blotted out.
15 May their sins always remain before the Lord,
    that he may blot out their name from the earth.

16 For he never thought of doing a kindness,
    but hounded to death the poor
    and the needy and the brokenhearted.
17 He loved to pronounce a curse—
    may it come back on him.
He found no pleasure in blessing—
    may it be far from him.
18 He wore cursing as his garment;
    it entered into his body like water,
    into his bones like oil.
19 May it be like a cloak wrapped about him,
    like a belt tied forever around him.
20 May this be the Lord’s payment to my accusers,
    to those who speak evil of me.

21 But you, Sovereign Lord,
    help me for your name’s sake;
    out of the goodness of your love, deliver me.
22 For I am poor and needy,
    and my heart is wounded within me.
23 I fade away like an evening shadow;
    I am shaken off like a locust.
24 My knees give way from fasting;
    my body is thin and gaunt.
25 I am an object of scorn to my accusers;
    when they see me, they shake their heads.

26 Help me, Lord my God;
    save me according to your unfailing love.
27 Let them know that it is your hand,
    that you, Lord, have done it.
28 While they curse, may you bless;
    may those who attack me be put to shame,
    but may your servant rejoice.
29 May my accusers be clothed with disgrace
    and wrapped in shame as in a cloak.
30 With my mouth I will greatly extol the Lord;
    in the great throng of worshipers I will praise him.
31 For he stands at the right hand of the needy,
    to save their lives from those who would condemn them.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Dear Father in Heaven,
Blessed Are You, Oh LORD,
Our God,
King of the Universe,
Ancient of Days,
Our Rock and Our Redeemer!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
For You Alone Are Worthy;
You Alone Are Holy;
You Alone Are Righteous and Just;
And You Alone Are The One True God of The Universe!
How Wonderful Are Your Precepts;
How Precious Is Your WORD!
How Eternal and Sure Are Your Promises!

1. Do not keep silent,
O God of my praise!
2. For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful
Have opened against me;
They have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
3. They have also surrounded me with words of hatred,
And fought against me without a cause.
4. In return for my love they are my accusers,
But I give myself to prayer.
5. Thus they have rewarded me evil for good,
And hatred for my love.

They Are Wolves in Sheep's Clothing, Oh God.
They Say, "Peace, Peace."
And Yet There is No Peace.
They Claim Victimhood While They Make War on Your People.
Father, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to YOUR Word.
And According to Your Covenant.

6. Set a wicked man over him,
And let an accuser stand at his right hand.
7 When he is judged, let him be found guilty,
And let his prayer become sin.
8. Let his days be few,
And let another take his office.
9 Let his children be fatherless,
And his wife a widow.
10. Let his children continually be vagabonds, and beg;
Let them seek their bread also from their desolate places.
11. Let the creditor seize all that he has,
And let strangers plunder his labor.
12 Let there be none to extend mercy to him,
Nor let there be any to favor his fatherless children.
13. Let his posterity be cut off,
And in the generation following let their name be blotted out.

Abba Father,
In a world of duplicity,
Your Faithfulness Abides Forever!
You have established Your Covenant With Your People.
Your Word Declares it.
We pray For Your People,
According To Your Word,
According to Your Will,
And According to Your Promise.
Let Her Enemies Be Put To Shame and Confusion,
According to Your Word.

14. Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the LORD,
And let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
15. Let them be continually before the LORD,
That He may cut off the memory of them from the earth;
16. Because he did not remember to show mercy,
But persecuted the poor and needy man,
That he might even slay the broken in heart.
17. As he loved cursing, so let it come to him;
As he did not delight in blessing, so let it be far from him.
18. As he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment,
So let it enter his body like water,
And like oil into his bones.
19. Let it be to him like the garment which covers him,
And for a belt with which he girds himself continually.
20. Let this be the LORD’s reward to my accusers,
And to those who speak evil against my person.

LORD, now WE Pray that Our Own Leaders will Listen to You!
We Pray that the leaders of the USA will be
Faithful to You.
We Pray for our leaders to be inspired by Your Holy Spirit
To be faithful to the Friendship and Covenants
Between our two nations.

We ask You to Bless America and Israel
With peace and friendship,
Even if we end up being their only friend in the world.
We plead with You
On behalf of our captive Brothers and Sisters,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

21. But You, O GOD the Lord,
Deal with me for Your name’s sake;
Because Your mercy is good, deliver me.
22. For I am poor and needy,
And my heart is wounded within me.
23. I am gone like a shadow when it lengthens;
I am shaken off like a locust.
24. My knees are weak through fasting,
And my flesh is feeble from lack of fatness.
25. I also have become a reproach to them;
When they look at me, they shake their heads.

26. Help me, O LORD my God!
Oh, save me according to Your mercy,
27. That they may know that this is Your hand—
That You, LORD, have done it!
28. Let them curse, but You bless;
When they arise, let them be ashamed,
But let Your servant rejoice.
29. Let my accusers be clothed with shame,
And let them cover themselves with their own disgrace as with a mantle.

30. I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth;
Yes, I will praise Him among the multitude.
31. For He shall stand at the right hand of the poor,
To save him from those who condemn him.

We Pray for the Coming of Messiah
To Deliver Us from Evil.
Your Kingdom,
Oh LORD,
is Forever and Ever.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

One of the most difficult commands from St. Paul, The Author of Hebrews, and Jesus Himself was the admonition to pray for those in authority. This is nearly impossible to do sincerely when one is the victim of an oppressive regime, and unless one is truly praying "In The Spirit", it comes off as insincere and grudgingly offered up. Believe me...it's NOT easy!

The last eight years have been difficult ones for people who take this command seriously. Many believed in their hearts that the former administration was there by trickery and usurpation, and had nothing but evil planned for America. This, of course, has been born out by facts and figures, and by the huge number of changes that the new administration has had to implement in order to get things going in the right direction again.

During the last administration, a bumper sticker emerged citing Psalm 109:8 "May his term be short and another take his office". However, the rest of the Psalm carries far more dire imprecations than a mere transfer of power.

To "New Testament Believers", this Psalm seems "harsh". Why did God allow this in the Canon of Scripture, if we are enjoined to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us?

Remember, David, though flawed, was a "Man After God's Own Heart." If you look carefully at this Psalm, you will see that the curses against the enemy are not David's, but are the enemy's OWN curses turned back on him. It is in harmony with the Proverb "He who digs a pit will fall into it." David is Praising God, asking Him for Justice, and merely citing the "Law of Sowing and Reaping". Jesus did the same thing when He said that "A bad tree bears bad fruit."

This is probably the scariest and most dark of the Impreccatory Psalms, but tomorrow, we launch into a new section that is full of Messianic references and Praise. Stay Tuned.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

God Bless America!

1 Samuel 2:10
Those who fight against the Lord shall be broken;
He thunders against them from heaven.
He judges throughout the earth. He gives mighty strength to His king, and gives great glory to His anointed one.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

"King David In Prayer"
Pieter de Grebber

OLD not thy peace, O God of my praise;

2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
3 They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.

4 For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.

5 And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

6 Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.

7 When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.

8 Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.

10 Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.

11 Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.

12 Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.

13 Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.

14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.

15 Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.

16 Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.

17 As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.

18 As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.

19 Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.

20 Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.

21 But do thou for me, O GOD the Lord, for thy name's sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me.

22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.

23 I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust.

24 My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness.

25 I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads.

26 Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to thy mercy:

27 That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, LORD, hast done it.

28 Let them curse, but bless thou: when they arise, let them be ashamed; but let thy servant rejoice.

29 Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle.

30 I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.

31 For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.
