67 degrees below zero is my personal cold temperature record.
Interior Alaska, December 1970. I was dressed appropriately and did not go swimming that day, however.

A few years ago I spent a night in a town about 200 miles north of Montreal where the temp went down to -40F (which is also -40C).At 7AM,with no water involved....and wearing a warm coat...it was COLD!

I couldn't believe that my car started after having sat for 13 hours (it was -20F when I arrived).

I thought my personal best at -45 F was cold. But - I was in a cabin with no insulation and the wood stove helped, but not much. Woke up in the morning and frost was all the way up the walls on the inside!

Then you may not get that kind of hardiness.

Somehow I can't help but thinking that the vodka plays a role in the icy dip.
